Our dogs in Greece are looking for a home
Eugenia, a dog rescuer in Greece, had 50 dogs under her protection when she fell very ill and died. Her husband did not have the strength to look after the animals and left them to their own devices. Powerless, he distanced himself from his late wife’s great aid project. The living situation of the large family of dogs got out of hand until a Greek biologist and her husbandtook care of the dogs and also sought contact with Gut Aiderbichl. The dogs were to be placed. 14 dogs were adoptedby a German animal welfare organisation.
Michael Aufhauser was a strong supporter of the Greekdog project. Gut Aiderbichl helped the biologist to renovate the dogs’ accommodationin order to make working with the dogs easier and to create more comfortable living conditionsthrough modern facilities.
A few weeks ago we received a letterfrom the couple, who looked after the dogs for many years. They themselves are now in retirement, over 70 years oldand the work with the many dogsin their house and gardenis becoming too burdensomefor them.
Eugenia's dogs wish for a loving forever home
Bob and Dylan – are each three years old and were found as 3-month-old puppies at a hotel in 2019. The hotel staff were feeding them leftovers from the hotel guests’ breakfast. The hotel is closed during the winter season and Bob and Dylan came to Eugenia. Bob was very trusting, but Dylan was shy. They stayed with Euenia for a while and were then rehomed to Germany via a Greek animal shelter. Unfortunately, Bob and Dylan returned a year later.
Mina – is between 6 and 7 years old. She was discovered completely emaciated outside a monastery in 2021. A severe infection was successfully treated with antibiotics. Mina is a small, warm-hearted dog who fears neither humans nor animals. She is very intelligent, very friendly and is a perfect dog for older people.
Jerry – is a big cuddly dog who probably had an ear cut off as a puppy. Jerry was waiting for his rescuer Eugenia near a rubbish tip. He is a diplomat and does not join in dog fights. Unfortunately, there is no information about Jerry’s exact age.
Lucy – One-year-old Lucy was abandoned by her owners because she was afraid of other dogs. She lives in Eugenia’s dog group and is not afraid of large or small dogs. She is always looking for her humans and wants to be in the house. Lucy immediately rewards every cuddle with the most loyal dog eyes in the world.
Eugenia and her husband are also the proud “parents” of seven lively, still very young dogs. These are seven siblings, who were born inOctober 2021in a channel pipehoping to be rescued. There she wanted to protect her mum from the heavy rain. The mum dog did not allow herselfto be caught. Eugenia and her husband took their seven puppies into their care. A few weeks later, they wantedto tryagainto take the mother to her puppies. Unfortunately, she was nowhere to be found, presumably dead like many dogsdue to the drought, lack of food and illness. The seven young dogs are looking for a new forever home.
Cindy, Celia, Charlotte, Cassie and Chloe are sisters
Cindy – is the smallest of her sisters. She walks on a lead, is well socialised and loves to cuddle. Cindy is an excellent swimmer and enjoys walks. Cindy would make a loyal companion for younger people who are active and enjoy hiking or swimming.
Cassie – is the calmest of the siblings. She also loves to swim, go for long walks and play with her siblings, but above all she loves to cuddle. Cassie is a bon vivant and loves people and life.
Celia – is playful, loves to cuddle, is very intelligent and obedient. As soon as she hears her name, she’s there. Water is one of the most exciting elements for her. Celia would be an asset to younger dog lovers who enjoy hiking or swimming.
Charlotte – Like Cindy, she is a rather small dog, likes strangers and is fearless. Charlotte would be a great fit for a family that enjoys hiking, long walks in the countryside or swimming.
Chloe – is the queen of independence. She also loves it when you go into town with her and looks at everyone kindly. Her home and her family are sacred to her and are guarded. She is never aggressive or barks like crazy – she is simply attentive.
The two males Chewie and Chicco are the brothers of Cindy, Celia, Charlotte, Cassie and Chloe. Chewie is a larger male, never aggressive, but trusting and friendly. Chewie is a sir and, like his sisters, loves swimming. By the way, he doesn’t mind going swimming in January or summer. His brother Chicco is a dreamer. Chicco is a sunny boy and is friendly with everyone. Sometimes he quarrels with his brother Chewie, but all is soon well again. Like all his siblings, Chicco loves water sports more than anything else.If you are interested in one of the wonderful Greek dogs, please contact Melanie Marx, Tiervermittlung@Gut-Aiderbichl.com. Dogs are like books, you just have to be able to read them and then you can learn a lot.
