Over 20 rabbits for sale

The Gut Aiderbichl rabbit house "opens its doors"

Over 20 young rabbits are looking for a loving home

Many people keep rabbits because they are cuddly, because they are quiet and perhaps also because they bring a piece of animal nature into the garden.
In the best case scenario, at least two rabbits are kept and many are also happy when the rabbitshave babies.
It becomes tricky when rabbit owners underestimate the early onset of sexual maturity in young animals and females become pregnant (sexual maturity is possible from the 10th-12th week of life) before they think about castrating the males.

Determining the sex of rabbits

Although rabbits are neutered by vets, even the experts often get confused about the sex, or it is not possible to determine exactly whether it is a female or a male. If the sexes cannot be clearly determined, it is probably advisable to consult a second vet.

A rabbit adoption sometimes harbours surprises

Unfortunately, rabbits rarely show that they are pregnant and this can also lead to the new owners taking a rabbit home from the animal shelter or young rabbits from friends and being surprised by the offspring one morning. Female rabbits usually give birth during the night, so that the owner then unexpectedly has baby rabbits in the hutch one morning.

The situation was similar for an animal-loving family who went on holiday and thought their animals had been neutered

The ten rabbits they had were in the best of health and well looked after, so they set off on their well-deserved holiday. Think again!
Originally, the family had two males and three females. One of the females became pregnant and gave birth to five babies. The males were immediately neutered to prevent further offspring. Things took their course and in the end there were 35 rabbits in the large rabbit enclosure.

Knock – knock – is there still room in the rabbit enclosure at Gut Aiderbichl?

The 20 young animals have now found a home at Gut Aiderbichl in Henndorf. All are neutered and in the best of health.
Göthe and Amy and her siblings Abby, Bart, Ben, Charly, Helen, Löwenzahn etc., for example, are now around seven months old and feel quite at home in the rabbit house.
Rabbits need a lot of exercise, they want to make hooks, they want to dig, hide or simply dream cosily in their hay. The velvety-soft animal harbours many feelings that humans are not even aware of:

Pets have a teaching role

Rabbits like Göthe and his siblings are mammals that experience basic emotional feelings such as fear, anger, sadness, affection and joy in a similar way to humans.
Animals are given as gifts on many occasions. It is important to remember that an animal is not a travelling trophy. In other words, if I no longer want it, I give it away or take it to the zoo to be fed, or worse still, abandon the rabbit. The animal’s teaching to humans is to feel respect and responsibility for the pet.

Pet ownership in the home can be stressful

As we have learnt, rabbits reproduce early and in large numbers; like wild rabbits, they are nocturnal animals because their predators are least active at night and there is less danger to them.
Our domestic rabbits behave in exactly the same way as wild rabbits in many respects, including their sleeping behaviour. Rabbits sleep between 8 and 12 hours a day. They do not sleep the whole time, but for a few minutes or hours at a time. In one day, their sleep can consist of up to 30 small sleep units.

The highlight for Göthe and his siblings would be to be able to live in a family with at least one partner. And: no worries, the neutering of Göthe and his siblings was successful.

If people knew that animals can speak, would they listen to them? Because people believe that there is an abyss between them and the animals. It is only one step in the wheel of life. Because we are all children of one unit.

– Manfred Kyber

Animals are not commodities – Easter is in a few weeks. Please refrain from buying animals and giving them as gifts. The good alternative is, for example, a special care contract for Göthe or an animal sponsorship for an animal at Gut Aiderbichl.
