Pauli moved from the allotment garden to Gut Aiderbichl's rabbit house
The three-year-old Pauli is a beautiful, white dwarf rabbit with black ears and black-rimmed eyes.
Pauli lived with his friend for some time at his owners in the allotment garden. Life was like paradise until one day Pauli’s friend died and the owners wanted to stop keeping rabbits. An aiderbichlerbecame aware of Pauli, who was being offered on Ebay.
Keeping rabbits alone - the partner has died
No rabbit should have to live alone because its partner has died. Apart from the fact that keeping them alone violates the Animal Welfare Act, being alone leads to great loneliness, which often manifests itself in behavioural disorders and illnesses.
Pauli naturally said goodbye to his dead friend. He must have sniffed and licked his friend and only realised after a while that he was no longer responding to his caresses.
Some rabbits stop eating out of grief, withdraw and appear uninterested in their surroundings. Many animals become calmer after the loss of a friend, move less, gain weight and some die after a while. Pauli should be lucky …
Pauli and all the other rabbits in the rabbit house in Iffeldorf never get bored
The familiarisation phase has gone well and Pauli has now found his “fixed place” among the many rabbits. He cuddles up with his fellow rabbits in the fresh hay and nibbles on lettuce leaves, carrots and everything else that makes up a rabbit’s healthy diet. Boredom is never an issue, because our rabbits have a lot to “talk” about with each other. They are just as curious as humans, but also angry, tense, anxious, stressed, sad or simply happy. They communicate via sounds and also warn each other of enemies by tapping their hind legs.
Pauli and all his new friends love to relax and simply doze off. These are the moments that mean they don’t want to be disturbed. They lie down on their side and stretch out all fours with pleasure. This means: “I feel comfortable and safe”.
A little more patience and all the rabbits can go out into the rabbit warren. Here, Pauli can compete with the others to dig, hide, race or simply doze off in the sun.
Wishing our Pauli a happy, healthy life among all his fellow species – if you are looking for him: he has black ears and very dark eyes.
All life, all sentient beings are fundamentally equal, sentient beings.
