Pig Frida
the lively boss in the pig palace
Frida, a miniature pig with a special character, has been living at Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf for a few months now. The barn where she lived until she was admitted was demolished and the owner started looking for a new home for Frida. The five-year-old mini pig could no longer stay on her own farm.
Frida the new boss
in the pig palace
Frida confidently shares her space in the Henndorf pig palace with all the other pigs.
“I realised that I could no longer stay on the farm where I came from. At some point, a red “Gut Aiderbichl Animal Rescue” car arrived. The people tried to lure me up there: with good treats. We pigs are curious and clever by nature, so I took a look inside the car and immediately lay down in the straw.” “We have a new mini pig on the farm, have you seen her yet, Ronja?” asked Marie, the donkey. “Yes, I’ve already noticed her, in the morning she comes into the donkey stable with her short legs and makes strange noises.”
Love knows no boundaries
Our new mini pig Frida loves the donkeys more than anything. In the morning, when the pigs come out to roam free, she hurries into the donkey stable where the animal keepers are putting the donkeys’ halters on. Then she walks across the yard towards the stable alley and greets Lisa and Bernie, the two donkeys. They spend the whole day moving back and forth between the stable alley and the animal buffet. In between, they spend some time together with Frida in front of the stable lane and greet the guests waiting for the tour of the farm.
“It’s really exciting to be able to live here in this animal welfare community. In the evening, we all have to go to the stables. I don’t like that at all. It’s much more exciting out on the farm and in the meadows, but that’s just the way it is. I just try to delay going into the stable as long as possible and like to hide behind the donkey shed. The animal keepers don’t find me there straight away”.
Frida has become the favourite of adults and children alike. On the occasion of a children’s birthday party, she once again became a real star, making everyone laugh. Little Frida went for a walk with the group of children. The young birthday group took our senior dog group for a walk around the farm with the animal keepers. Suddenly Alfi, our dachshund, fell in love with Frida and wanted to join her.
“And you know what? He tried to hold me by my curly tail. I have really long white bristles. He couldn’t hold me because the bristles slipped through his little teeth. The children laughed. I tried to tell Alfi not to do that by grunting. But the thing is, dogs bark and don’t understand our grunts. So I simply ran faster with my short legs and went to the geese in the meadow. I grunted, Alfi barked at me and the geese chattered loudly”.
Frida, our mini pig, is an absolute enrichment and we are glad that she has found a “forever home” with us. If you are looking for her: she has a very light-coloured skin, long, soft, white bristles that are particularly long between her small ears. She is always smiling and grunting to herself – it is not difficult to identify Frida.
