Gina
A little pony conquered a human heart
From the perspective of Gut Aiderbichl
(written by Gisela Pschenitschnig)
Gina, a 26-year-old Shetland pony, stands on a pasture with a shelter. Whether wind, rain, hail or snow - Gina probably knows no life in the closed and protective stable. The roof is permeable, the hay is damp and not the best either.
"First I cried like a child, then I took action..."
A young woman, very fond of animals, tried to make friends with the pony. She started talking to Gina and feeding her. Slowly Gina got trust in the woman from the neighborhood.
What had happened here? Gina belonged to a family who, due to sad circumstances, did not have enough time to take care of her. A sick child requires all attention and care, and so it is fair to say that the parents were perhaps overwhelmed with the little pony. "It's all right, there is nothing wrong...", was their opinion.
At first Gina did not allow touching
Gina was very thin, had partially thinning fur, a wound on her neck and burrs all over her body in her long, unkempt coat.
Gina resolutely avoided every touch of the young woman or even ran away. With a lot of effort and patience, it was possible to build up a relationship of trust with Gina. It was a long, arduous journey. The woman cried, the situation hurt deep in her heart. She wanted to help: the people and especially their pony Gina.
She has little experience with horses, and she did not want to do anything wrong. Gina was examined by a veterinarian, and it was found that especially the blood values were okay. Treatments for eczema all over the body were successful.
Gina enjoys the love and care...
and slowly opened her pony heart. Eventually, she even accepted the brush and the new equipment: a fly cap and a sweet itch blanket. Gina loved the good food that her new friend brought her and lived more and more. She also allowed the dental treatments. Human hands are now allowed to pet her - she knows from whom the love comes.
Obviously, the horse owners agreed to find a new forever-home for Gina, and they are now relieved.
"Please excuse this call for help...it all moves me very much".
The young woman and also her husband have taken little Gina so much to their hearts, and asked Gut Aiderbichl to take in the pony. Dieter Ehrengruber was very moved by the story and said very quickly "YES! We have room for Gina". The sad story about Gina contained everything: a family in worry about their child, a young neighbor who gave all her love and care to a pony and spares no effort or expense to find a place for her out of the dreary life situation.
A ray of sunshine is enough to illuminate much darkness. (Francesco d'Assisi)
Gina has only been at Gut Aiderbichl in Henndorf for a short time. Curious and full of joie de vivre, she is discovering her new surroundings. The stable is dry, there is straw and hay. Lots of ponies and donkeys visit her every day and convey to her with neighing and Iah calls: "Everything is good here. You get everything you need and you have us!".
Let's wish the former owners all the best and thank the young lady for the love, care, tears and compassion for Gina. Thank you for looking, your Gisela
