Pony Silver
A life full of suffering and now?
Animals are confiscated when nothing else works. When the neglect of the animals is so advanced that you have to ask yourself how an animal can survive all this.
Emaciated to the bone and the soul a gaping wound
Two ponies and three horses were found in an appalling condition. The animals must have been neglected for months. The condition of the ponies and horses is so bad that the veterinary office was able to put an end to the madness by confiscating them.
Huddled together, sick and emaciated, the horses must have hoped for a long time that the next day would perhaps be a better one. That food, fresh hay and water would finally arrive.
The ponies Silver and Bounty, as well as the horses Olyra, Fordson and Vigo, were in a physical and health condition that went beyond anything tolerable.
The initial medical treatment could begin
Full of patience and love, the medical care was started. The feed was eaten with shining eyes. The horses were very calm and level-headed as they took the food and everything they were given to build them up. The vets and carers worked on the recovery of the neglected horses, very shocked and dejected, but motivated at the same time.
Bounty and the horses Olyra, Fordson and Vigo now live at Gut Aiderbichl’s animal sanctuaries. The red Aiderbichl halter guarantees them a protected, safe life full of care and love until the natural end of their lives.
Pony Silver has to wait a little longer until the doctors give him the all clear
Silver is still at the rehab centre in Egg. He is still undergoing treatment for his grey melanoma there, and the prospects are good that Silver will soon be able to start his journey to his new forever home. Bounty will be delighted when he can introduce his friend Silver to all the other ponies at Gut Aiderbichl in Henndorf.
Gut Aiderbichl and the Sandgrueb Foundation, Vetsuisse, Faculty of Zurich, have been working together successfully for years to help sick horses. The team of doctors at the rehabilitation centre in Egg near Zurich specialises in chronic diseases of the hooves, skin, etc. and treats their patients’ illnesses successfully and with indescribable dedication and enormous medical knowledge.
Photos from the rehabilitation centre in Egg show that Silver has put on weight, he looks very well-groomed and calm. The emaciated pony has become a healthier looking pony.
Silver still has to wait a little longer – not for food or species-appropriate husbandry – but for a safe and protected life with his fellow ponies at Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf’s animal visitor centre.
