Puppy miracle times five
The Gut Aiderbichl
Christmas miracle 2021
Many abandoned dogs have found a forever home at Gut Aiderbichl in recent years. A few weeks ago, a black female dog was standing in front of the gate of the Gut Aiderbichl Shelter in Romania. She ran up and down the street and finally just stopped in front of the gate. Our staff brought her into the warmth and gave her food.
Juno ate very well and seemed to feel good all round. All the staff wanted to help the young black mixed-breed dog get well as quickly as possible, and they probably succeeded. However, the round belly was a cause for concern. The vet examined Juno and, with a smile on his face, announced that Juno had five puppies in her belly. So far, everything seemed to be in order.
Juno's trip to Salzburg
It was decided to transport the pregnant bitch to Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf. The date of birth of the puppies was uncertain.
If she had given birth to the puppies in Romania, there would have been a five-week waiting period for entry after the vaccinations. We wanted to spare Juno and her puppies that.
In the meantime, Juno moved into a nice room with a dog bed. Now all that remained was to wait.
Birth on Krampus Day
Traditionally, Krampus arrives on 5 December. He is a creepy, terrifying figure and symbolises good and evil. Juno’s puppies were born calmly and without Krampus in her warm room. The birth went without a hitch and Juno couldn’t stop licking her five dry. She lay down happily and let her puppies suckle the milk with relish.
Juno's kindergarten
Juno’s puppies are called Julius, Jacob, Jana, Jim and Jessy. Each puppy has a different coat colour: Julius is brown with a white ruff, Jacob is semi-brown, Jessy has the same colour as Jacob, Jana is black like her mum and Jim is brown, black and white.
Their little eyes have been open since 16 December and their weight is going up. The little puppies are always hungry and Juno lies patiently in her dog bed and is happy that her babies are well, that they live in a warm, clean room and are looked after by the Aiderbichler staff. She can only really rest when her little rascals are asleep.
The message from Julius, Jacob, Jana, Jim and Jessy
Christmas is just around the corner. Juno’s search for shelter had a happy ending and the puppies will never have a bad experience. The message to people should be not to give animals as presents at Christmas. Juno’s little puppies will not remain little babies either, but will grow up and demand love, activity and food.
