New Year's Eve
He whizzed round the bend like a firework
From the perspective of an Aiderbichler
(written by Gisela Pschenitschnig)
A employee of our dog–Shelterin Romania stopped at the motorway, when she saw an unresponsive doglyingon theside of the motorwayroad. The dog had probably been hit by a car and died from her injuries. The young woman suspected, that there must be a puppy somewhereand tried to lure it in, which was not so easy. Suddenly he came out of hiding – Sylvester, a handsome brown and white mongrel. Nicky took him to the Gut Aiderbichl dogs–Shelter. From now on, his life shall be a good one.
The whimpering of the dogs mingled with the tears of the helpers
Maybe Sylvester’s mum was a stray? Unfortunately, she can no longer tell us. Sylvester was born in a country where we are confronted with horrific animal suffering on a daily basis. A few years ago, our animal emergency centre received a call for help from Glina. In this small Romanian town, a former lawyer provided over 300 dogs with food and water. The shelterwas made of rusty latticework, with no protection from the rain, cold or storms. Words like sadness, horror or heartbreak would not suffice to describe the circumstances in Glina.
Daily fwatch Iona, the angel of dogs, travel many kilometres to care for the dogs. The Gut Aiderbichl staff found a well access at the site, we stretched roofs to protect them from the weather. Everything was like another world: howling, whimpering old and young dogs. Shy dogs and those that would have loved to jump over the fence so that we could take them with us.
Many Romanian street dogs found a home
Our healthy, socialised Romanian four-legged friends are being placed and there is no negative feedback from people who have adopted a dog from Romania so far. The animals are simply grateful and loyal.
The Gut Aiderbichl animal shelter in Romania is one of many projects in the spirit of love for animals in need. So far, over 300 dogs have been taken in at the Romanian animal shelter and over 200 have been successfully rehomed. Not a day goes by without a heavily pregnant dog, an injured dog or a box of puppies waiting to be admitted at the gate of Gut Aiderbichl in Romania.
Whether homeless people or stray dogs - it's all about looking
If our employee hadn’t seen a lifeless dog lying on the side of the road, what would have happened to New Year’s Eve?
Thankful and beaming with joy, he has now found a home in Gut Aiderbichl’s Romanian dog shelter. We wish him a wonderful place with people who want to have him around.
If we try to believe in the good, there will always be a way to the positive. Sincerely, Your Gisela.
