Rabbit snowflake
Love had probably turned into boredom
From the perspective of an Aiderbichler
(written by Gisela Pschenitschnig)
Animals are wanted, bought, kept and, unfortunately, too often given away or abandoned due to a lack of interest.
This is what happened to the pretty lionhead rabbit Snowflake. Children wanted it, loved it and looked after it. At some point, interest in the creature disappeared and Schneeflocke now lives in Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf’s forever home.
Ethics, the science of human behaviour
A big word, a big science. The word ethics comes from the Greek word “ethos” and means custom or habit. What do people usually do, what do they consider to be right and wrong?
Dealing with values cannot be learnt early enough. Ethical rules follow us throughout our lives. With the help of ethical and moral sensibilities, we treat our fellow human beings, animals, nature – in other words, everything that constitutes a respectful and moral human life.
Without social values, a society is doomed to failure. People should have their own opinions, help others, be friends with people or animals.
Snowflake - a living creature with organs and feelings
With animals, children learn to take responsibility for a living being. Snowflake needs to be fed and cared for. It needs to be recognised, which means that even a rabbit wants to hear its name from time to time and know “Aha, the human means me …”. Animals remember the voices of their humans, they memorise their scent and want to make us happy.
It may not always be fun to keep the rabbit hutch clean or to communicate with Snowflake for five minutes – but it is one of the ethical rules to be there for a living being.
Fellow rabbits, sunshine and lots of fresh air in the rabbit enclosure
Snowflake was kept as the only rabbit. Rabbits are very social animals and want to have a partner around them. Snowflake has now made lots of friends and is slowly feeling her way into her new family. She particularly likes Schoko, Klecks, Ronja and Brownie, as well as Karuso.
Rabbits want to play, hop around, hide, enjoy the sun – enjoy life. Snowflake can now have all of this in abundance.
With this in mind – sincerely, your Gisela
It is "not just an animal" ... It is a heart that beats, a soul ... that feels and a life that wants to live.
