The good feeling of having done the right thing
Doni and Chico find a home at Gut Aiderbichl with the provision for pets
Love for animals often requires difficult decisions. The decision to give up beloved animals is often the most painful step in their owners’ lives. Many months, often even years of inner struggle lie behind them. This was also the case for the owners of the two horses Doni and Chico.
The Gut Aiderbichl provision for pets
With increasing age, neither humans nor animals are spared the challenges of life. The owner of Doni and Chico suffers from osteoarthritis, a painful joint disease that has long since made riding impossible. The daily care of their two animals is also becoming an increasing burden for the couple.
The couple had already taken out a provision for pets at Gut Aiderbichlfor their two dogs and two horsesa long time ago. But parting with beloved pets is always a profound change in one’s life. But the owners knew that their animals would receive the same love and care at Gut Aiderbichl that they were used to at home. This made the decision to let Doni and Chico go easier in the end.
Senior horses at Gut Aiderbichl: Doni
Doni, an English thoroughbred, has accompanied his owner for many years. At 28 years old, he has already reached an advanced age. He needs special feed to keep his teeth fairly healthy. However, Gut Aiderbichl has a great deal of expertise in dealing with older horses. Similar to humans, the needs and requirements of animals change fundamentally with age.
For years, Gut Aiderbichl has been cooperating with the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna and researching the needs of older horses as part of the “Quality of Life” project. The results of previous studies clearly show that old or chronically ill horses have different requirements for their living conditions than young, healthy animals. This is why Doni was able to move into the A-stable at Gut Aiderbichl, which is specially designed for senior horses.
Individual needs first and foremost: Chico
Of course, Doni’s faithful friend Chico was also allowed to move into the A stable. At 18 years old, the grey horse is not yet a senior, but to separate the two? Unimaginable for humans and animals! Fortunately, Gut Aiderbichl has plenty of space for Chico to let off steam in the paddock. Whether young or old – Doni and Chico receive species-appropriate care at Gut Aiderbichl that is tailored to their individual needs. Just as they were used to from their loving home.
The good feeling of having done the right thing
The couple visit Doni and Chico as often as possible at Gut Aiderbichl. And when they return home, they always do so with the good feeling that they have found the right place for their beloved animals thanks to the provision for pets.
