Three in one fell swoop
12 tiny cat paws conquer hearts
For many elderly people or people living alone, a cat is the only living creature that stands by their side as a companion. You can murmur your worries into their ears, stroke them, massage their ears and feed them. It gives us honest feelings and we humans are not questioned. A cat, like many other animals, usually chooses the people it wants to live with itself.
Cats from the farm
A few days ago, we received three adorable kittens from a farm. The farmer’s wife actually wanted to bring us two mum cats and five kittens, but then suddenly the mums and the slightly larger kittens were nowhere to be found and three small kittens were left in the cowshed, which were already very weak… Out of concern, the farmer’s wife initially brought us the three kittens alone. The very next day we set off again ourselves to look for the mums and the other kittens, but unfortunately without success… So three kittens moved in with us: the red cat Ginger, the grey tiger Cinnamon and a second tiger called Dino.
For a few weeks, the animal keeper’s office will now be a cat nursery
When the kittens arrived, everything was already prepared. Now the real work began: feeding them.
During the night, the carers took it in turns to take the little ones home, because growing animals are also hungry at night. It’s not the time of day that counts, but the hunger. The three mewed in sharp tones and wanted milk. For the first few days, the milk was given with a syringe. Then we massaged their tummies, stroked them and slowly put them back in their cat bed until the next hunger attack came a short time later.
Cinnamon was a problem child from the start
She was much weaker and smaller than Ginger and Dino and didn’t really want to drink. Her condition worsened and the weakened cat was immediately taken to the vet. There Cinnamon was given an infusion of glucose and an anti-inflammatory for the pain in her tummy. The doctor had done a good job and Cinnamon felt much better a short time later and became visibly fitter.
Social life in the children’s cat room
The three of them cuddle and sleep all day and only hunger wakes them up. Dino starts screaming at the top of his voice “Hungry, where’s the milk?”, Ginger holds back because she knows that a human hand is about to come and hold her tenderly and that good, warm milk will run out of the teat into her little mouth. Cinnamon also pulls more and more greedily on the teat.
You wouldn’t believe it, but the three musketeers are now eating their own cat food and are also going to the litter tray on their own and look very happy when “it” is done. Then every day there are a few rounds of play, mutual grooming and very quiet, contented purring. As soon as Cinnamon, Ginger and Dino are big and strong enough, they will be looking for a loving place with a family.
It is only thanks to your support, dear Aiderbichlers, that we can help animals and give them a loving home until the end of their natural lives. Please continue to support us with a small donation or a symbolic sponsorship. Thank you very much!
