Welcome,
Zebu girl Tara!
The surprise has a name
No two days are the same at Gut Aiderbichl. Will an animal emergency come in today? What do our more than 9,000 animals need? Who is ill – and who has recovered well? These are daily questions that we have prepared ourselves for. And yet our animals are always good for surprises – surprises that nobody really expected.
Do you remember our zebus in Iffeldorf?
Do you remember the story of our zebus that moved into Gut Aiderbichl in Iffeldorf?
After the death of their owner, the farm was to be closed down and all the dwarf zebus sent to slaughter. It was only thanks to the courageous efforts of an animal-loving woman that the animals could be saved – and start a new life at Gut Aiderbichl.

A surprise from wobbly squirrels
New animals – including our zebus, of course – are always closely observed and lovingly cared for by our animal keepers. Because every animal has its own peculiarities, which we want to accept and get to know.
However, despite close observation, no one really expected a pregnancy. Pregnancy – especially in cattle such as zebu – can often go undetected for a long time. Only shortly before or even during the birth does it become apparent that a cow is expecting offspring. And so it was a big surprise when Wobbly Squirrel gave us a little girl in September.

The name was voted on
With over 9,000 animals, finding a name is not always easy. That’s why we asked our Aiderbichlers on social media.
The result was clear: 70% were in favour of the name Tara.
The female first name Tara has several meanings. One popular interpretation, for example, is “life”. And we think that’s very fitting – because if it hadn’t been for Gut Aiderbichl, her mum would have gone to the slaughterhouse and our little Tara wouldn’t have been allowed to live.
How wonderful that Tara is with us. Now everyday life is slowly returning – or not, because at Gut Aiderbichl, as I said, no two days are the same.
