Yellow-cheeked cockatoos got their name from the small yellow ear spots that are characteristic of this specie. They are highly endangered, as are the other 350 parrot species that are already on the Red List. Unfortunately, more and more people want a certain exoticism in their own four walls and not infrequently resort to parrots. Often, it is wild-caught parrots that find themselves in living rooms and not infrequently the proud parrot parents have not informed themselves a bit about the keeping conditions of the animals. And often they want to get rid of them quickly. But where to put parrots that nobody wants anymore? A sanctuary took care of these animals, but when it was on the brink of extinction too, due to the age of the operators and the extensive care required, Michael Aufhauser agreed to take these wonderful animals in. Coco is now part of our family and may stay with us forever!
