When Hanna and her fellow sufferers arrived at Gut Aiderbichl Ballermann Ranch, it was a picture of misery. Their hooves were much too long and the dirt and excrement from the last few years had dried up in their tails. You could tell they were totally weakened and exhausted. Animal lovers became aware of the sad existence of the mares. Up to their knees in dirt, without fresh hay and water, they had to eke out an existence in their old home. Under the most difficult conditions, animal lovers were able to buy the mares free, but they did not know where to put them. Annette Engelhardt finally asked Dieter Ehrengruber for help when she heard about this fate and now the formerly neglected animals can live a happy life as proud horses.
