In October 2007, Lorena was sent on a long and terrible journey. From Romania, over Hungary, through Austria she should find her end in Belgium. Because there she should have been slaughtered. Animal rights activists became aware of the transport and stopped it, as the animals were being kept under devastating conditions. Gut Aiderbichl was informed and asked for help. When Michael Aufhauser saw the extent of the tragedy on the spot, he immediately agreed to take in all 21 horses for slaughter. Together, they were able to be freed. At Gut Aiderbichl Köllersberger, the horses have found a safe haven and, above all, a forever home.
