When the previous owner presented 27-year-old Maxi to Gut Aiderbichl Ballermann Ranch, completely distraught, the estate managers didn't think they were seeing straight. The operators of the boarding stable, where he had been kept as the only shetty in a herd of pensioners, had woven metal plates and electrical tape into his mowing so that the electric shocks from the electric fence would actually hit him when he tried to run away again. The husbandry on the farm was not designed for ponies at all and apparently the owners did not really care. It was too much of a hassle for them to put another electric strip a little lower on the fence. Instead, little Maxi had to suffer. Of course, Maxi immediately became part of our family and is allowed to stay forever.
