It must have been a terrible day for calves. The day of their auction. Afterwards, they are transported away on large trucks close together. Purzel would have gone to a fattening facility. But then something unforeseeable happened. In a roundabout, the bull calf flew out of the transporter and slammed into the road. Another calf turned back into the trailer.... Animal-loving people driving behind the transporter could not believe their eyes. Before their eyes, a bull calf fell onto the road in the curve of a roundabout. The driver had not noticed anything and drove on. They brought the completely frightened and exhausted animal to the side of the road. They carefully lengthened the calf with a tow rope. Quick-witted, the rescuers contacted Michael Aufhauser in his office. In the meantime, the transporter had obviously heard from another passer-by that he had lost a calf and had turned around. The rescuers agreed that they would not hand over the 6-week-old bull calf without further ado. Michael Aufhauser spoke to the transporter and agreed with him that Gut Aiderbichl would buy the calf free and have it collected by Aiderbichler Christian Kögl in less than an hour. The latter agreed. Almost without will and exhausted to death, the little bull lies on the side of the road. Then, after about an hour, Christian Kögl loads him up and Purzel's journey to great freedom begins. Instead of a cramped fattening box, a life of happiness now awaits him. With lots of exercise and conspecifics who are allowed to live without fear and stress.
