Hayrettin was only 173 days old when she was put up for auction at the foal market in Rottenbuch. Together with her mother, she had to do her rounds and present herself in the hope of finding a good buyer. It is not uncommon for dealers to bid at these auctions and then send these young animals to slaughter. The reason: they are not pretty enough. Michael Aufhauser named the filly Hayrettin because she reminded him a lot of a horse that he had saved from death in his early days and with whom he had a special friendship.
