Back then, in 2004, Gut Aiderbichl was in its third year. We did not yet have as much experience as we do today. When Michael Aufhauser was called to a desperate foal at a horse market, it had already been sold to an Italian butcher. For a surcharge, he reversed the deal. So Kathi came to us with 30 other rescued horses. But she did not want to eat and preferred to die, because she missed her mother Mariandl unspeakably. Her condition worsened and so we decided to look for her mother and give her back to her. On that day of reunion, there was fog over Henndorf. Many visitors were witnesses. Obviously both felt their reunion and that before they could see each other. Mother Mariandl was already pregnant again and gave birth to Mariandl II at Gut Aiderbichl. They are inseparable, even going to the veterinary clinic as a threesome. Their story has caused a lot of thought and rethinking.
