The Holstein-Cow is considered "the" dairy cow breed and is synonymous with a powerful dairy cow. They have a milk yield of 8,000 liters per year. Everyone knows them, everyone has seen them, but still far too few appreciate the sacrifice that they have to make again and again - so that man can drink milk. Again and again the cow has to give birth to a calf in order to be able to give milk. The male animals are usually not needed - they go to fattening and finally find themselves in a slaughterhouse.
