The mini cow Kathi - there is nothing that does not exist

A few months ago, we received an email in which a family asked us to take in the mini calf Kathi. Kathi was born so tiny and was so delicately built that one had to doubt her chance of survival. But once again, the will to survive won out. That's how it is with animals - there is no giving up. Warming lamps, blankets, cuddling with the farmers, bottle-feeding every two hours - all this helped the little calf, which was no bigger than a medium-sized dog.
And the efforts were worth it. When she was admitted to Deggendorf, she was just under a year old and the size of a 4-6 month old calf. But the most important thing was: she survived and fought.

Kathi and Bully

Benedikt Gruber, administrator in Deggendorf, smiles when he talks about his Kathi. "She probably won't grow too much more. However, Kathi has enormous self-confidence, just like a normally grown cow. She's always up to some kind of mischief and is dirty from top to bottom every day. Kathi, no matter whether she is eating or playing - she is simply always dirty. We love our little mucky Kathi!".

And the best thing: Kathi found a friend in Deggendorf who is just as short: our Bully. The two are one heart and soul and ready for a life together at Gut Aiderbichl Deggendorf. They are already looking forward to being able to visit again after the lockdown.

Nature creates living beings that are different

Many visitors keep asking about Lilliput, the dwarf bull with the artificial intestinal outlet, about Pamplono, the little calf that was born without fur and actually looked like a deer. His best friend Fipsi, who was dwarf and followed Pamplono wherever he went. All three of them have left deep marks in my heart and were living proof that on Gut Aiderbichl's sanctuaries you are allowed to look the way nature created you: different. Unfortunately, Liliput, Pamplono and Fipsi have already gone over the Rainbow Bridge and are now grazing in the pastures of heaven. But deep in our hearts we will never forget them...

With my little story about Kathi, I wanted to prove you how precious every life is. Perfectionism doesn't really get us anywhere, it's the normless things in life that should awaken interest and love for the different.
Sincerely, Gisela

Cattle Kathi

Fleckvieh

It happens more and more often that a calf is way too small and delicate. At birth, a calf should weigh 35-45 kg and have a height at withers of about 65 cm. The size, the bone structure...

Cattle Bully

Fleckvieh

Bully was rescued thanks to a dear animal lover. Now he has found great friends at Gut Aiderbichl Deggendorf: Kathi and Karli.
