Notre histoire

Gut Aiderbichl has been committed to the welfare of animals for more than 20 years and is an important institution for the well-being of animals in Europe. Our farms of origin in 6 European countries are home to more than 6,000 animals raised in a wide variety of situations. We guarantee each animal a safe and secure home until the end of its life.

Before even the creation of the organization in 2001, Michael Aufhauser was already committed to animal rights. Together with Dieter Ehrengruber, Gut Aiderbichl has become a driving force that not only caused a sensation in the early years, but which continues to do so today, because animals are our life. Year after year, we work together to create equitable conditions for animals and give them a voice.

La rétrospective de Gut Aiderbichl

L'année 2022

2022 en chiffres

The year 2022 was marked by crises. The pandemic, but also the ongoing war in Ukraine and inflation have had an impact on Gut Aiderbichl. We will only be able to overcome these crises thanks to the fantastic support of our Aiderbichlers and colleagues. In 2022, we will be able to offer a permanent home to more than 915 animals.

  • Sauvetages d'animaux en 2022 : plus de 915
  • We receive around 30 calls for help per day
  • Growth in knowledge: More than 1,000 people took part in 47 webinars and 17 face-to-face courses

70ème anniversaire de Michael Aufhauser

Helping the most vulnerable members of our society has always been the vision of the founder of Gut Aiderbichl, Michael Aufhauser. This year, he celebrated his 70th anniversary. For many years, he has worked with Gut Aiderbichl for values such as respect, compassion, gratitude and tolerance. It is now more than 20 years since Gut Aiderbichl has been helping animals in need and has become the largest animal welfare organization in Europe.

Spectaculaires opérations de sauvetage en Ukraine

A large number of our animals are living in Ukraine. The fighting continues, making life unsupportable for the people and animals on the ground. Gut Aiderbichl cannot and will not turn a blind eye. When the war broke out in March 2022, Gut Aiderbichl did not hesitate to immediately deliver food for animals and emergency supplies to the region in crisis. Not only did we actively support the local population, but we were also able to put 31 dogs and 11 cats as well as their families in a safe place.

In September 2022, we received a new appeal with the help of an animal rescuer in Ukraine. Despite the approach from the front line, she has decided to take care of 94 dogs and 29 cats. She did not want to leave the animals alone, facing certain death. It was our duty to monitor and act. In accordance with the Aiderbichler philosophy. Our animal rescuers embarked on an arduous and dangerous journey to Ukraine, demonstrating exceptional courage and commitment to animals. In the course of two spectacular rescue operations, the 123 animals belonging to the rescuer were all kept safe. The pets and chats that were put down have been housed in a specially licensed shelter in Osnabrück (Germany) and can now return home. For more information, see here.

Entassement d'animaux - 47 chats sauvés

In October, we received an appeal with the help of Vienne. A pet owner was living there with 47 cats over 50 meters square. In 2020, 4 young cats were living in his apartment. As the animals were not sterilized, they multiplied in an incontrôlée manner. Two years later, he was already living with 47 animals in his small apartment in the city center. The animals lacked hygiene and veterinary care. The chats were infected with giardia, which caused severe diarrhea in the animals. Humans suffer from a mental illness known as "thésaurization des animaux". It involves the detention of a large number of animals. Despite their great love of animals, they are no longer able to take care of them properly. The mobile team of the Volkshilfe project "A gift for animals" (Un cadeau pour les animaux) took note of this case and requested help from Gut Aiderbichl. Les animaux de Gut Aiderbichl Maria Schmolln are now soignés avec amour et de manière adaptée à leur espèce. Read the complete story here.

4 millionième visiteur

In 2022, Gut Aiderbichl will welcome its 4 millionth visitor to Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf.

20 years ago, our founder Michael Aufhauser had a vision that gave rise to Gut Aiderbichl. Today, the sphere of influence of Gut Aiderbichl extends to the whole of Europe. The essential elements of our success are our active commitment on behalf of the animals in need, the communication that we provide, as well as sustainable education and the transfer of knowledge.

  • Sauvetages d'animaux en 2021 : 767
  • There are currently more than 6,000 animals living in 30 farms in 6 European countries

2021 was a year full of events for Gut Aiderbichl. The coronavirus pandemic has caused enormous economic difficulties. Our animal accommodation centers have had to be closed to visitors, but the daily costs of around 38,000 euros for food and staff at all Aiderbichl facilities have remained unchanged. The animal feedings were also carried out under difficult conditions.

Corona has also brought the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of Gut Aiderbichl to an end. The celebrations could therefore not take place as planned in the company of our loyal supporters and long-time colleagues. Nevertheless, the tireless efforts of our employees and the strong support of our sponsors and the Aiderbichl staff will allow us to continue to look to the future with optimism.

In addition to all the challenges, there have also been many wonderful moments that we have enjoyed. Today, we are proud of the excellent work we have done for animal welfare over the past 20 years. In 2021, we were able to rescue 767 animals and give them a "home for ever" at Gut Aiderbichl.

Achat gratuit de 19 chevaux négligés

Among them, there are 18 horses that we have been able to save from catastrophic détention. In June 2021, the veterinary clinic requested the support of Gut Aiderbichl. 19 sick horses, some of which are emaciated and have behavioral problems, are in need of our help. Anyone who has ever seen animals that are almost sick will never forget this spectacle. The fact that one of the cows did not survive the first night after being put down testifies to the animals' desperate state.

Thanks to the intervention of the Deggendorf veterinary office, 18 animals in distress have been rescued. They are now passing the crucible of their lives in various Gut Aiderbichl domains in Germany, Hong Kong and France.

Kathi, la petite vache

At Gut Aiderbichl, we have a vision of a world in which all living creatures live together in absolute harmony. This is only possible if we focus on cohesion and tolerance and if we are prepared to treat all living creatures without prejudice. This is also the case with Kathi, a small-tailed vixen. They are born in a rural farm. However, his will to survive, the electric light bulbs, the covers, the câlins with the fermiers and the beberons of two hours help the animal to stay alive. However, the family cannot use it as a lactating animal or for fattening and requests help from Gut Aiderbichl. When she was admitted to Gut Aiderbichl Deggendorf, Kathi was a little less than one year old and had a tail of four to six months.

Even during the pandemic, we have continued to pursue our favorite projects. In April 2021, we were able to open our animal reintroduction center at Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf. Due to various forms of environmental damage, such as deforestation, monocultures and the increase in traffic, more and more squirrels are needed. The aim is to save the injured, orphaned or dying animals, to rehabilitate them and return them to nature.

The 25-meter-long and 14-meter-long pigeon house, as well as an immense aviary, offer space for more than 1,000 birds. A little after the opening, 70 pigeons belonging to an animal protection organization took up residence in the building.

With 6,000 animals and around 250 employees, we have taken on an enormous responsibility for animals and people. By taking charge of each animal, Gut Aiderbichl has made a promise to take care of each animal until the end of its life. We are closely monitoring the current situation regarding the coronavirus COVID-19 and are in permanent dialog with the competent authorities. We can assure you that we are as well prepared as possible for the coronavirus COVID-19 and that we strictly respect all public and external requirements. Our three reception centers in Henndorf, Deggendorf and Iffeldorf are open every day from 9 am to 6 pm. Our reception centers are a paradise for men and animals, surrounded by many wild animals, in the middle of nature and in the fresh air.

La ferme d'accueil is a place of welcome and information for visitors.

Our animals continue to be fed, cared for and receive the necessary medication 24 hours a day by our vets, and the needs of each animal are taken into account. We have respected our commitment to make reserves of food for the animals in order to be as well prepared as possible in case of emergency. You can rest assured, dear Aiderbichler, that the well-being of our visitors, our employees and, of course, the animals is our absolute priority.

It was out of the question to sell it, but our life's work had to be preserved. To achieve this, the donation to Gut Aiderbichl was entirely logical. Le ranch Ballermann, its name and its history therefore remain in place. Several generations of happy horses will still be able to live there. Les Engelhardt run the ranch and continue to invest in the development and expansion of the paradise. "Ballermann" is no longer just a synonym for parties, but also for wild animals.

In addition to two enclosures for ponies, a freezing suite has been created, which has allowed Gut Aiderbichl to spontaneously rescue three physically and emotionally injured freezing ponies, which are now moving through the enclosures with the large troupe.

The frosty area was created in addition to two enclosures for ponies, which were spontaneously evacuated.

But that's not all. "When Dieter Ehrengruber told us about the sad sorting out of many children, we quickly removed our cars from the garages and built a village of children that now offers a safe foyer for 16 children," explains André Engelhardt. "We are delighted that we will continue to invest a large part of the license fees from the operation of the Ballermann brand in the ranch and in joint animal welfare projects," assure Annette and André Engelhardt. Furthermore, the Ballermann ranch at Gut Aiderbichl is open to visitors. A guided tour of two hours is organized every Saturday of the month at 10 am. It is not necessary to register. In addition, clubs and large groups of 10 people or more can make separate appointments. More information at the following address: www.ballermann-ranch.com

L'histoire de M. Grey

Mr. Grey was found near a bus stop on the outskirts of Bucharest by a Romanian animal rights militant. She first realized that he was dead because he showed no signs of movement or breathing. As if that wasn't enough, the pale animal was lying on the side of the road, its mouth open, as if it were a dead animal. The militant of animal rights, chosen at the highest point, was précipitée towards the immobile body and has happily reconnoitered some faint signs of life. Together with another animal rights defender, she immediately took Mr. Grey to a vet, who was able to save him from a certain death at the very end and repair all the visible injuries.

The assessment of internal injuries - psychological ones - still takes a lot of time.

M. Grey was first able to re-establish himself in the refuge of the animal rights activist and has lentement reprisis des forces, jusqu'à pouvoir à nouveau se lever et boire seul. The animal rights activist contacted Gut Aiderbichl and asked for help. A little while later, Anita and Klaus, the owners of the Aiderbichl estate, came to look for the pawsome chien as part of the Gut Aiderbichl campaign for rescue chiens. However, M. Grey found herself in a corner and made menacing remarks in front of the experienced Aiderbichler. However, she succeeded in putting a harness on this dog, which was injured and traumatized, and placing it in a rescue center. Mr. Grey was horrified because he was simply terrified. Pain by experience.

Deux kilomètres before Gut Aiderbichl à Maria Schmolln, Anita descended by car from M. Grey, who had understood that something was about to change for the best in his life. They traveled this last route together to give him a sense of arrival, so that he could learn to know and understand his new home. After a few weeks, Mr. Grey is installed in his new home and rejoins a pack of 16 chiens.

M. Grey has learned a lot during his life. He has had to learn to recognize the perverse qualities of people and to delve into the most profound abysses. By saving us, he has been authorized to rebuild with us, the humans. He trusted us, gave us confidence and gave us a chance to show that there is another way for men and animals to live together. Gut Aiderbichl is the home of the animals, we are the strong voice of the animals and we help where we can. If you like, please support us in our work and help us with a donation or a symbolic donation for Mr. Grey or our many other abandoned animals!

Gut Aiderbichl is the maison des animaux sauvés.

Stefan a survécu au brasier!

Stefan, a Taurillon Fleckvieh, was born on 30 January 2017 in Tyrol.

In a small community in Lower France, the grange where Stefan lived caught fire. 124 pompiers and the Croix-Rouge have been deployed. But these are not the people who were affected by the fire. Around 80 male bovines were found in the buildings of the table. A quarantine of them were killed due to atrocious souffrances. In the part of the table where Stefan was located, he was the only survivor. Around 80% of his skin was burnt. Stefan arrived at Gut Aiderbichl in a state of shock and our animal handlers had never before been confronted with an animal so badly burned. But Stefan is very well behaved and hasn't been afraid of people, quite the opposite. His skin requires daily care, even today, several months after his arrival. It takes at least one hour a day to take care of him, not counting the regular veterinary checks. As he doesn't have any more water and we don't know if it will leak, he needs to protect him from the frost, humidity and sun. But Stefan is on the way to recovery and is now looking forward to every visit.

Le directeur d'Aiderbichl, Dieter Ehrengruber, has prepared a surprise for his arrival: all the employees and the animals have formed a guard of honor to welcome Gertraud Gruber and wish her all the best for her anniversary. We sincerely thank Gertraud Gruber for her commitment and her love of animals and wish her all the best for the future!

The Foundation for the Protection of Animals of the European Union has set up a training program at the request of its members.

A little while later, Chris was lying on his hind legs and had his first important drink. Everything was fine, but by the end of the day, the condition of the baby had deteriorated considerably. She has received veterinary care, but there has been no improvement. She became more and more ill and was no longer able to stay with Chris. The lives of her mother and her baby were in jeopardy. Her owner therefore contacted our groom Martina and asked her if she knew a young nanny who could nurse Chris.

However, the breastfeeding jars are rare and even if one is found, this does not automatically mean that the mother and the baby are separated. In consultation with Dieter Ehrengruber, Martina suggested taking the mother and baby to the clinic équine, where they would be under constant surveillance. Our team set off this morning, hoping that it would not be too late.

The jument was immediately sent to the clinic - the vets did nothing wrong and worked hard to save the life of the jument. But they wanted to lose the battle three days later. Chris' landlord could not guarantee that he would be fed in the wild. After all, this meant that it was necessary to feed the puppy in the cage every two hours, even at night! Martina therefore accepted to take on this important task with her team. But one thing was clear from the start: Chris needed friends and, above all, an adoptive mother to teach him everything a baby needs to live. Martina flirted with the poney that suited her best and finally chose only a calm and gentle poney: Bubi. Without waiting any longer, we took him to the rescue and went to look for little Chris at the clinic. The doctors and we ourselves are eagerly awaiting the first meeting between Bubi and Chris. Is that going to happen? We hoped and we wondered - and voilà, Bubi and Chris are now completely united. Bubi paid a lot of attention to the little puppy orphelin and made him understand that he was now there for him.

The vision of this touching scene has enraptured an enormous amount of people from all over the world. Finally, we have charged and taken them in the direction of Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf, where they were already waiting impatiently for their arrival. A box had already been prepared for them. Little Chris is now fed with milk every two hours. Just next to him is Bubi, the devoted father d'accueil, who then munches a carrot with a smile, all the while keeping an eye on Chris. The life of the little petit étalon poney still comes down to eating and sleeping. But he has already made his first steps in the domain and soon Bubi will show him everything that life at Gut Aiderbichl has to offer. If he remains in good health, Chris will be with us for 35 to 40 years. During this period, we will do everything in our power to offer him a life that is respectful of animals and adapted to the species, with the best possible conditions for rearing and care.

Chris is in good health.

Our three animal welfare centers (Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf, Deggendorf and Iffedorf) have already registered more than 3 million visitors!

A new Aiderbichl year is about to begin. The animals' destiny does not have an annual rhythm, weekends, holidays, vacations or periods of rest where we are only available in an emergency. This is precisely what makes our work so special: we are always on the go and remain open and attentive to the animals. And as we are confronted with so many daily challenges, we have decided to create this annual report in which we reflect on the most memorable and touching moments of 2017. We are constantly experiencing moments that are simply lost in everyday life and are generally never published. In this annual report, we have taken the liberty of presenting these stories in a more authentic and detailed way so that they are not forgotten, neither by us nor by you. The aim is to illustrate the work of the Gut Aiderbichl team. Everything that is done here is done with love and competence for the animals.

Notre bien-aimée Lucy (née en 2000, décédée le 24 février 2017)

Our Lucy (16 years) was a "cofondatrice" of Gut Aiderbichl. She was killed by animal lovers from a refuge in Spain, but Lucy was so traumatized that she finally became an Aiderbichler. She belonged to the race of Spanish cattle dogs, whose tasks are prepared in a very strange way in Spain. They are simply affamés for a long period of time in order to be able to quickly repair the traces of lions or foxes. These "preparations" characterized Lucy until the end. Her faim was insatiable, as if she wanted to prepare herself for "bad moments". Another traumatizing factor was her panic in the face of constant violence, such as the church bells or the fires of artifice. If she only heard the church bells on television, Lucy was immediately afraid and cowered. I still remember the day Lucy arrived with us. Her destiny touched me and, from the very beginning, we created special bonds. Lucy accompanied us everywhere, Michael and me. She loved the excursions to Gut Aiderbichl and her friendly and affectionate nature inspired everyone. It was also thanks to her that DJ Ötzi was able to overcome his fear of animals at Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf in 2004. Michael Aufhauser showed him that no animal is foncièrement mauvais and, with a great deal of hesitation, DJ Ötzi finally overcame his fear and ate Lucy. A moment of which we and he will always remember. Lucy liked intimacy. She liked playing with her friends Jeanny, Snoopy, Rikki and Lulu, and then having a siesta in the sun. Lucy was very special because of her sweet nature, especially for my daughter Laura. Lucy liked Laura more than anything and had never left her since the beginning. They felt they were putting one over the other and had a special friendship. Of course, as soon as Lucy reached adulthood, her first sorrows and doubts were felt. Everything is a little ralenti and Lucy was no longer as turbulent. But Lucy has never lost her joie de vivre, quite the opposite. She benefited from every day and showed us to what extent it is wonderful to enjoy life. And we were happy every day to be able to share in Lucy's life.

Lucy has always had a very special relationship with Michael Aufhauser. She never left him and, after her serious illness in May 2015, she is even more focused on me. Lucy immediately recognized my pain and suffering - she knew me perfectly. And especially in difficult moments, she gave me courage and strength.

Last week, I noticed that Lucy was losing her strength more and more. She didn't really want to eat any more and, after a long walk, she preferred to go back to her cozy bed and sleep. We pampered her with all sorts of treats and benefited from every hour he stayed with her.

I picked up the news from Lucy in the morning. She was sitting comfortably on her couch, raised her head and looked at me. She was tired, but didn't feel sorry for herself. Always anxious, I am on my way. I knew that there was always someone else around Lucy to help her, but my thoughts were always focused on my Lucy, who was always happy. I quickly took the road back after the rendez-vous and when I returned to Salzbourg in the morning, my first thought was for Lucy. She looked at me and I thought that the time had come to say goodbye to her. I reminisced about the many years I had spent with Lucy, all while caressing and talking to her. She was very calm and very friendly. I called the vet to help Lucy go for her last walk - she shouldn't have been sick.

5 ans de Gut Aiderbichl Iffeldorf : 30 avril 2017

On Thursday, we celebrated the 5th anniversary of Gut Aiderbichl Iffeldorf, the Gertraud-Gruber-Osterseehof.

A big thank you, of course, goes to Mrs. Gertraud Gruber, without whom the "conte de fées de Gut Aiderbichl Iffeldorf" would not have been possible, to the mayor of the municipality of Iffeldorf, Mr. Hubert Kroiß, and to our managers Hansi and Martina Süß, who, together with their team, invest themselves every day for the animals.

Allez-y !
On the 1000 m² site in the center of Henndorf, the 170 four-legged friends registered in the commune can now enjoy themselves as they please. And the owners are equally happy.

Every day, a large number of human friends gather on the 1000 m² of farmland, thanks to a family of farmers and the Aiderbichl estate, which has paid for the location of the farm and is responsible for its management. The new exercise area for dogs is closed, there is a paved path and a bathing area," explains Dieter Ehrengruber, General Director of Aiderbichl. Our response to the obligation to leave a leash !

L'année 2016

15 ans de Gut Aiderbichl

15 ans d'amour pour les animaux

2016 was an eventful year, but also a successful one for our animals. There were some sad moments when we had to say goodbye, but we also had to say yes to a number of animal destinies where we were able to say yes thanks to the precise and loyal support of the Aiderbichler community. Without them, our continued commitment on behalf of the animals in need would not have been possible. This anniversary year, we celebrated it with many Aiderbichlers in the company of our animals in need.

The orphelin Mimi, a member of the endangered Zackel breed, was one of the first animals to be killed during our anniversary year. The little dog was born on January 20, 2016 and was found dead a little while later. Mimi's mother passed away a little after the birth. None of the other members of the troupe accepted the orphans. When our owner of horses Martina realized this destiny, she collected the little piglet and fed it to the beaver. And as Mimi needed milk every day, Martina took the little pig to the house in the evening. Mimi became Martina's companion. But she was also in need of companions and found a friend in the person of Leila, a triple girl who had not been accepted by her mother. The trio was finally completed by Liesl, a Cameroonian girl. Liesl was also rejected by her mother and had to be killed. We were able to avoid this by retrieving the young girl just a few hours later. Thanks to our experience in raising beaver-fed cows and the efforts of our owners Martina and Eva, Mimi, Leila and Liesl were able to sort themselves out. They can now enjoy a life without worries with us.

Le mât de cocagne des animaux

The planting of the arbre de mai is one of the most popular traditions in Bavaria and its origins date back to the 16th century. That is why, this anniversary year, we have decided to create a new May tree decorated at Gut Aiderbichl Iffeldorf as part of a May tree festival. Hansi Süß and his team have painstakingly painted the May tree themselves in traditional colors. In Bavaria, it's common for the arbors to be decorated with the motifs of the guild arbors. As the animals are the chefs at Gut Aiderbichl, we have decided to decorate the tree of May with various animal motifs. This is also the name of the Arbre de mai des animaux, which was put in place as part of our Festival des arbres de mai on May 1st at Gut Aiderbichl Iffeldorf, the Gertraud-Gruber-Osterseehof.

We have imagined something very special for our young Aiderbichlers and animal friends this anniversary year. Several hundred children visited us on this day and spent an unforgettable day surrounded by our animals with many exciting and varied program elements.

Enclos des sangliers

The well-being of the animals and the adaptive breeding of the species are our absolute priority. In 2016, we were able to build new enclosures for our sangliers sauvés at Gut Aiderbichl Carinthia. They will now be able to create, build or simply benefit from a bath in the sun on their doorstep.

The protection of animals is a priority for us.

10 ans de Deggendorf

We also celebrated an anniversary at Gut Aiderbichl Deggendorf. Le domaine de Basse-Bavière, part of the Aiderbichl sanctuary network, celebrated its 10th anniversary.

The highlight of the Noël market was the large crèche of live animals, accessible on foot, which presented not only traditional animals such as beef and chicken, but also moutons, cherries, poultry and llamas.

Le marché de Noël de Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf was also the occasion for a big Noël party.

Faits et chiffres:

We needed around 16 million euros to cover our operating expenses in 2016.

This includes € 450,000 of veterinary costs for each of us. In addition to this, we have to build up reserves and make investments. We donated around 2,480 tons of feed to livestock each year. We have traveled around 735,000 kilometers for the cause, which is more than 18 times the distance of the equator. Gut Aiderbichl employs 160 full-time staff, 90 agricultural workers and 30 volunteers for the animals and visitors.

In 2016, we ordered 9 tons of carrots, 8 tons of fruit, 19 tons of bananas, 397,200 bags of pet food and 69,500 boxes of pet food. In addition, there is food prepared for the farm with ricotta, pâté, yaourt, fromage blanc, etc. We needed 42,550 liters of litière for chats.

L'année 2015

La maladie de notre fondateur Michael Aufhauser

Since 28 May 2015, nothing has been better in the life of Michael Aufhauser. He suffered from a potentially fatal aneurysm, but was fortunately saved by a quick operation. His recovery is progressing slowly, but there are always setbacks, which he accepts with more courage than the disease itself.

The life of Michael Aufhauser has never been the same.

Michael Aufhauser has made arrangements for cases where he would not be able to actively participate in Gut Aiderbichl. He has formed a team in which he has great confidence and of which he is certain, after a minute examination and selection, that it will be able to carry out its work for the future in a sustainable and professional manner. Dieter Ehrengruber, General Director of Gut Aiderbichl, has been working alongside Michael Aufhauser since 2003 and has recently taken over his responsibilities, supported by a well-established team of long-standing collaborators.

Sauvetage de 4 poneys du cirque

The last rideau died for the pony team of the circus. After a life of galloping, they were now destined for the abattoir. We bought them at the price of a kilo and were stunned to see Sultan, Nelke, Laurel and Manolo. Depressed, intimidated and manifestly in a state of exhaustion, the four of them stood in front of us. We immediately took them to the clinic équine, where Laurel and Nelke had to empty one eye each. This we did not realize at the time: Laurel was already pregnant and gave birth to little La Vivi at our clinic on 22 March 2015.

La clinique équine is a place of welcome for the horses.

Expansion : Gut Aiderbichl Gänserndorf

On April 25th, two new installations were inaugurated on the site of onze hectares, which also includes the Gut Aiderbichl sanctuary: a spacious enclosure for the suckling reindeer and the large enclosure for the perroquets with outdoor enclosures and space for 60 suckling perroquets. On the same day, trois renards arctiques et trois renards argentés emménagé également dans le nouvel enclos des renards. We were able to release them from a European farm a little while ago. One of the reindeer, Melissa II, was very lonely when she was killed and finally gave birth to three reindeer in good health.

La nouvelle étable pour les seniors

On November 13th, Michael Aufhauser's sincere project, the new sanctuary for the elderly, was officially inaugurated. The facility is located close to our main farm in Henndorf and is specially designed to meet the needs of older animals. Our animals are growing old at the same rate as we are and, over the years, we have become experts in the field of raising older animals. The veterinary surgery for the elderly is free of obstacles and each box is equipped with a device that allows us to intervene quickly and easily when one of our pets is on heat. The vet has a separate area for animals that are allergic to fox poo and suffer from pulmonary diseases. Their boxes are filled with wood shavings and their fur is de-poussiéré.

We want to make things easier for our animals that become more difficult with age and thus increase their joy of life. Because old age is not a disease, but a special phase of life.

Our commitment on behalf of the animal races in need

This breed, whose name translates as "big and round", is actually originally from New Zealand, where the porcs were raised as companion animals by the Maoris. However, at the end of the 1970s, the Kune Kune were in great danger of extinction - there were only 9 left in the world. With the inclusion of Harry, Potter, Diego, Roy and Casanova, we want to set an example and give an account of this race in the process of extinction.

Les cochons sont des animaux de compagnie.

Sauver un troupeau entier d'aurochs

At the end of March, we received an emergency appeal. The mayor's assistant of a commune called us to tell us about a whole troop of oxen that had already been sent to a boucher. They were very small and young cattle. The local farmers were very worried and wanted to prevent the death of the oxen. We were able to help them and place the 17 timid animals under our protection.

The quality of the care provided to the dogs depends on the care, nutrition, exercise, medical care and the number and duration of walks. At Gut Aiderbichl, the environment of the chiens is completely adapted to them - they must be able to escape for several hours a day. On August 22nd, we were able to open another large park for chiens of 5,000 m2 at Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf with a pond for chaotic days. Heidi and Joachim Michels, long-time residents of Aiderbichl and sponsors, have generously supported us in the realization of this project.

L'année 2014

Where can we find 6000 animals, including 34 different species? But instead of stagnating, we are increasing the number of animals in need every year. Our aim is to preserve what has been created and to create something new.

Plus de 700 chevaux, poneys, ânes et mini-chevaux

The help we provide to these animals requires attentive observation of the aquatic scene. We have had to learn a few amusing lessons. For example, that young horses with the best pedigree must die so that the high price for others with a similar pedigree and the best performances at competitions remains on the table. Or even that there are new eastern routes for the "abattage horses" as far as Russia, which means unfinished transportation.

Gut Aiderbichl has more than 700 horses across 25 domains. Some of them are in need of care or are suffering from chronic diseases. They are taken care of by our 300 animal attendants and animal handlers, who are professionally on duty 24 hours a day.

Gut Aiderbichl has more than 700 horses raised on 25 domains.

Plus de 800 chiens et chats

Gut Aiderbichl is a network of large sanctuaries. They belong to us or are loués à long terme. This also applies to chiens and cats, as well as to the rare cases of special care places. The cats in need of care live at Katzenstift Traisen, while the cats who love freedom live at Gut Aiderbichl France.

Whether they are kept in the abattoir or used in experimental laboratories, neglected in husbandry or by sarcastic breeders, animals of these breeds often find themselves in need and often learn for the first time what livestock farming is all about. Their presence in our domains has transformed us into experts. We study their nature, their behavior, their intelligence, often underestimated, and their needs. Our knowledge of these animals often differs fundamentally from the practices and level of knowledge of "farm animal husbandry".

When it comes to animal welfare, Gut Aiderbichl is probably the largest institution in the world capable of acting with competence and respect for animal welfare. That is why, this year again, many new arrivals have been registered, for which we have once again created vast capacities.

Petits animaux et nos amis à plumes domestiques

They are the millennia à voltiger, à se dandiner, à sautiller et à se pavaner dans nos domains. These are the lapins, the cochons d'Inde, the cygnes, the oies, the pigeons, the canards, the furets, the coqs, the paons and the poules - all plutôt petits, mais grands ! Because they also entail costs. Many of these animals are sick or in need of care and, of course, an injured pigeon is just as important to us as a cygnet on the ground. We make no distinction between animal species and we provide them with the best care at all hours of the day and night.

Les nombreux animaux exotiques et sauvages

Gut Aiderbichl has one of the largest sanctuaries in the world for chimpanzees and ex-laboratoires.
Conscious of the high cost of rearing the big singes, we decided in 2009 to place 40 old chimpanzees from the laboratory under our protection. No one else would have accepted to take them in charge as a group and that was the only way to keep them together. But the wild indigenous animals, such as the cerfs and the cerfs in distress, have also found a permanent and protected home with us. They live on our domain in Henndorf and in a large enclosure at Gut Aiderbichl Carinthia. In addition to the renards, there are also: Hilde la martre, Juppi l'ourson, Paul et Emilia les ratons laveurs, our impressive herd of sangliers and Franziska le chameau - as well as a large troupe of lamas and alpagas and 100 abandoned perroquets.
Les perroquets abandonnés. They all have the right to live out their lives in the best and most adapted conditions for their species.

Notre Gut Aiderbichl GmbH's

They all generate their own operating costs across our domains. Including the entrées, the boutique and the restaurant. The eventual profits remain and are not retained.

L'année 2013

40 000 Aiderbichler, 24 maisons pour animaux...

En avril, Gut Aiderbichl Iffeldorf, le Gertraud Gruber Osterseehof, ouvre ses portes. Gut Aiderbichl supports animal owners and animals in need during the inondation of the century. This also increases our animal population. Gut Aiderbichl Eslarn rejoins the réseau de nos refuges.

We would also like to thank our employees, who now number more than 250. Without their help, none of this would have been possible to maintain and operate. We are all pleased that it is now possible to exploit these assets economically and independently. The maintenance of our foundation's assets is made possible exclusively through donations and bequests.

We expect the flocks to be big enough so that the barres de coupe no longer represent a danger for them. At this moment, most of the graminées and flowers have also been removed. The fruit and vegetables from our fields have been left in place. If necessary, we plant mixed wood refuges for small animals and birds.
We close the humid zones, but we are not obliged to do so. We also want to protect wild lys and rare amphibians. This year again, we were able to purchase large areas for Gut Aiderbichl and buy others.

At Gut Aiderbichl France, there are chênes that are over 500 years old. They also benefit from our protection.

The dimensions: 50 x 17 mètres. In total, 101 bovines now live on our domain situated on the banks of the Dirndl valley. We have also acquired a new small property in Kilb. Une zone agricole avec permis de construire. In addition to livestock, Gut Aiderbichl Kilb now has 25 sows, 8 chats and three sangliers, which we bought free of charge at an agricultural exhibition.

Nouveau magasin de foin pour Iffeldorf

Due to our high demand for feed and pellets, large pens are very important for us.
A 31 x 20 meter enclosure is currently under construction at Gut Aiderbichl Iffeldorf. Nos moutons s'y installeront confortablement. A large parking lot for our visitors, access roads to the domain as well as a boutique, a plant purification system and the installation of a photovoltaic cover on the old table will be completed during the course of the year for the inauguration in December.

The construction of the table is in progress.

L'achèvement du sentier des chiens

A unique canine enclosure is in the process of being created at Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf with the help of the owners of Aiderbichl, Heidi and Jochen.
In the Salzbourg region, where the chiens have to be kept in a loose environment, it is now possible to let them run free among magnificent pastures.

Aiderbichler Herbert Mackner has succeeded in preparing a soy escalope very similar to the original. Our visitors are delighted. Especially as more and more people are realizing that the production of food gas consumes up to three times more energy than the alternatives to soya.

Aiderbichler nous offre un hôtel

With more than 400 pets under our permanent protection, we urgently need a place where we can provide special care for older pets in poor health. We will soon be able to do so, because we have received a hotel - which we will start to renovate at the beginning of 2013.

20 huskies are in danger of dying and would be euthanized without our rapid assistance. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Michael Aufhauser, all Aiderbichler unite their forces and donate to the reconstruction of the old enclosure of the lions in Gänserndorf and the protection of the large pack.

Finalization of the maison des ânes, the salle de séjour des animaux et de l'enclos extérieur des chats à Henndorf

Gut Aiderbichl has innovated with its new maison des ânes. A new era of breeding has begun. We would like to thank the Aiderbichlers Verena and Jürgen for the creation of the maison des ânes. And we would like to extend our thanks to Gerd Viebig, who left us on November 12, 2011.

A large storage and workshop hall has been built at Gut Aiderbichl Deggendorf thanks to the generous support of the Hatto Egerer Foundation and Bernd Funda, member of the Board of Directors. Gut Aiderbichl invests in the embellishment of the entire Deggendorf domain. And Aiderbichler Sven Hunnius finances a large table for chats.

The chimpanzees were the subject of intensive experiments in the research laboratory. This meant a total isolement of their companions. Even the humans did not survive them except through combinations of protection. This year, the big moment has arrived for them. For the first time in decades, they will be authorized to go outside.
Mike Serres, the famous chimpanzee handler, is there to help our soigneurs. They help the chimpanzees to forget their traumas.

New cowsheds and new enclosures are under construction right next to the Gut Aiderbichl cattle farm.

Since 2012, Gaston and Kathrin Glock have also been long-term supporters of Gut Aiderbichl with their aid projects that help vulnerable people, men, animals and nature.

Inauguration of Gut Aiderbichl Iffeldorf

The official opening will take place in April 2013. The building was constructed in the typical style of the Gut Aiderbichl farmhouses. The Osterseen lakes have always been a popular excursion destination for the residents of Munich and Starnberg. The architecture we have chosen is already a compliment to one of the most beautiful regions in Germany.

L'année 2011

10 ans de Gut Aiderbichl

2011 is another year of expansion and new constructions. The construction of a pellet-fired heating system is set to begin in Henndorf, and new industrial machinery is already arriving on the site.

The construction of a pellet heating system is underway.

It is thanks to their support that we are embarking on this new project. Our children, some of whom come from the south at an advanced age, had an urgent need for a heated table. We started the terracing work at the end of March and the animals moved in at the end of November. On the first floor of the maison des ânes, we were able to build a large living room for the animals (room for chiens and chats...) with the help of Gerd Viebig.

La maison des ânes has been renovated.

Gut Aiderbichl Deggendorf

The entire establishment has been completely renovated. Thanks to the support of the two Aiderbichler Margit and Bernd Funda, we were able to construct large enclosures for the dogs. La villa des chats has been completely renovated with a special 2.5 meter high grill and much more.

Our management s'adapte

The social headquarters of Gut Aiderbichl is located in Salzbourg. This is where we respond to our correspondence and all our appeals. We use a modern IT system to manage budgets, training, accounting and banking issues, payroll accounting and many other things. Sonja Großmann, Silvia Schiller and Elsa Gamerith make sure that everything goes well.
Bernadette Linasi is in charge of our accounting service and has a signature authorization. Werner Hingsamer is responsible for IT.
Dieter Ehrengruber is responsible for all important decisions, sept jours sur sept. Michael Aufhauser, Holde Sudenn and Bianca Pöckl are responsible for publications and future developments.
Our administration operates 365 days a year.

Gut Aiderbichl Iffeldorf

The planning of the new Aiderbichl domain, the "Gertraud Gruber Osterseehof", has been completed. The roads have been cleared, the old buildings restored... We have also received permission to construct the new buildings, which will be built in accordance with the latest findings. These include an artificial humid zone, a photovoltaic power station and a heat pump powered by our own natural water. According to all probability, the doors will open to visitors at the end of September 2012. More than 200 wild animals are already living there.

Gut Aiderbichl Maria Schmolln

More than 20 perroquets have been housed in the new large aviary. Other aviaries are in the process of being built for 50 other feral perroquets that are already living under our protection. The number of pigs in the enclosure is 75 pattes of velour, which we have been able to help with a great need. An enclosure of 2 000 mètres carrés is secured by a special lock for pigs of 2.5 mètres high.

Le sentier des chiens à Henndorf

This year, a pathway was created along the portail that leads to the area and along which the dogs can walk without being left behind. Thanks to the initiators Heidi and Jochen Michels, the "chemin des chiens" was completed in the spring. A space, a terrace, was built in front of the hall in the guests' garden, which is not accessible to free-range animals.

On 6 September, the group of 10 chimpanzees was authorized to sort out for the first time after decades of captivity in the experimental laboratory. 11 outdoor enclosures have been built at a cost of around 3 million euros. The general manager of Aiderbichl, Dieter Ehrengruber, was in charge of this project.

Nouvelles écuries en Basse-Autriche

Another branch of Gut Aiderbichl is currently under construction just a stone's throw from the Gut Aiderbichl singing reserve in Gänserndorf. It is an immense volière for pigeons, installed in the vacant giraffe pavilion of the former safari park. Most of the pigeons from Henndorf will be transferred there. A new spacious cattle shed has also been built and a foyer has been created for three wild chiens. A new table was inaugurated at Gut Aiderbichl Kilb in December 2011. Constructed according to the latest research, it offers 100 sow bovines a space adapted to their species.

Une maison pour chats en Suisse

À Teufen, near Saint-Gall, a resident of Aiderbichl has given her house to the Gut Aiderbichl Foundation, where her 25 cats currently live. Once the renovation work has been completed, the house will become a sanctuary for cats. It is our first property in Switzerland.

Animal welfare and engagement sans relâche

Animals need us day and night. If we refuse to take them in, it will mean a sad end for many of them. Several hundred animals in need found shelter at Gut Aiderbichl in 2011. The most striking case was the adoption of the female Yvonne and her family (Gut Aiderbichl Deggendorf).
The tragedy of the cull in Klosterneuburg, in which Michael Aufhauser played a key role, also brought us 16 dogs in two. If you would like to follow our animal registrations, you can do so on our accueil page and in the Gut Aiderbichl magazine.

La page d'accueil est en anglais.

L'année 2010

Nouveau : Gut Aiderbichl Iffeldorf

The Gertraud Gruber Osterseehof Foundation, just a stone's throw from Munich, is a coïncidence. Aiderbichler Gertraud Gruber offers Gut Aiderbichl financial support in cases where the development of a new farm is planned in Upper Bavaria. When a family of farmers shared with us their wish to transform their farm into the Aiderbichl domain, nothing stood in the way of the creation of a new foundation. Gut Aiderbichl Iffeldorf will be our third domain, open to visitors all year round. The Süß family of farmers is responsible for the management of the estate and, together with their team, already looks after more than 150 animals, including the young female Franziska.

A livestock building is under construction to accommodate, among others, old cows, cattle, lambs, cows and sheep. A new, spacious animal center offers a safe and magnificent space for the animals. Our animal guardians contribute significantly to the realization of the idea of the Aiderbichler dog families thanks to the affectionate care they provide to their protégés. Markus Leitner, who is responsible for the domain, and his team take care of more than 200 animals in an exemplary manner.

Nouveau : Gut Aiderbichl Maria Schmolln

Gerd Viebig has long been an animal rights activist and was looking for an animal protection organization that would continue to protect his sanctuary in his mind. He invited Michael Aufhauser and Dieter Ehrengruber to visit him in 2010. When Michael Aufhauser saw the farm, he thought first of all that it was a request for help. He offers his help to Gerd Viebig. All the animals there live happily, but ownership has been denied. In fact, Gerd Viebig did not need financial aid, but rather structures for his property. Gerd Viebig's farm and all his animals are part of Gut Aiderbichl.

Nouveau : Gut Aiderbichl France

Beatrice Bürchler-Keller has been offering us her domain in France as Aiderbichl property for a long time. The particularity of this domain is its incredible size. 60 hectares are surrounded by a wall 2 meters high and 4 kilometers long. After the necessary work on the development and construction and the creation of additional pastures, 100 chats and other livestock as well as a family of dogs will now be able to settle there.

This year, we will be able to help a number of circus animals, including Mini, Maxi and Pumuckl, who will be living at Henndorf with many others. 36 poulains that we buy from the enchères currently live at Gut Aiderbichl France. In 2010, several centaines d'animaux dans le besoin seront
in our domains. The animal population is growing considerably to reach more than 2,000 animals in need.

40 chimpanzees and 5 large singes have been part of the mass in bankruptcy of the former safari park in Gänserndorf since 2004. Some of them have spent more than ten years in the cages of the animal experimentation laboratory. They were finally freed in 1997. Following a company restructuring, the pharmaceutical company Baxter became the owner. Baxter does not have any experience with large singes. To thank the chimpanzees for the great sacrifice they have made for humanity, Baxter has built a large installation for them. The chimpanzees and the big singes were transferred there in 2002 and, from that moment on, the majority of them were authorized to live in groups. However, the planned outdoor enclosures have never been built. In 2004, the owner of the Singes enclosure filed a balance sheet.
In 2009, the administration of the farm almost decided to transfer the majority of the chimpanzees to a Hong Kong zoo. However, Michael Aufhauser has personally and privately guaranteed the lifetime maintenance costs (from 2020) of the three young chimpanzees, which have been allowed to remain together and, with the agreement of the state, the province of Lower Austria, Baxter and the municipality of Gänserndorf, have become the property of Gut Aiderbichl.

A farmer from Kilb violates his property and suffers great hardship. He loses his farm and his more than 60 poor cattle. Désespéré, he even threatens to commit suicide. Seeking help, he turns to Michael Aufhauser. His possessions and all his belongings are transferred to the Gut Aiderbichl charitable foundation. Tout le village participe au sauvetage. The farmer is granted the right to live on his farm with his animals. All the females are given birth and the herd soon reaches the impressive size of 80 animals.
A large pigeon farm is being built in Deggendorf. The small romantic domain with the villa for chats will be added.
Since the market in Pâques, the two domains of Gut Aiderbichl that you can visit no longer serve anything but meals without food. Maria Kaindl is now in charge of catering, Paul Kaiser is responsible for sponsoring and Hans Wintersteller will be responsible for the domain. L'année 2001

Gut Aiderbichl devrait toucher de nombreuses personnes

Début d'un développement rapide

Before even the construction of Gut Aiderbichl, Michael Aufhauser campaigned in his new town of Salzbourg for the abolition of animal transportation to the Middle East. In 2000, he touched many people with his project "The Cow Misera". The mémorial was created by Michael Fuchs and shows the elements that cause animal suffering: the people who are afraid of frost and the avidity for profit. Many celebrities assisted with the presentation in Salzbourg, including Tatjana Patitz and Hans Clarin (†). Manfred Karremann, who discovered and documented the torturous transport of animals from Europe to North Africa, and Dr. Andreas Grasmüller (†), an animal rights activist, also took part.

Gut Aiderbichl devrait toucher de nombreuses personnes

Right from the start, it was clear that Gut Aiderbichl would be the subject of a great deal of publicity if it wanted to make a big difference. Michael Aufhauser informs his friends about his period as an actor and his life in the "société" of the time. He explains his projects to them. They attract the media with their presence.
Back in Malaga, Michael Aufhauser meets Claudia Ludwig, journalist and presenter of the WDR program "Animals looking for a home" (Les animaux cherchent un foyer).
