A five-month-old calf, like many of its kind, was to be loaded and taken to Italy for slaughter. But the calf took advantage of a gap between the transporter and the scales and escaped into an adjacent park. Police and firefighters were alerted, but the search proved difficult. Only after stunning could the little runaway be recaptured. Michael Aufhauser and our office in Salzburg were informed of the calf's escape by telephone at short notice, and we wanted to reward the calf's courage in resisting its sad and agonizing fate. At Gut Aiderbichl she now no longer needs to be afraid, because here she is allowed to be who she is in peace and without pressure.
