The Dahomey Cattle is considered the smallest breed of cattle in the world and originate from West Africa. Their height reaches only one meter and a weight of 300 kilograms. Since the origin of this wonderful breed of cattle is located in the former kingdom of Dahomey (today's Benin, Africa), they also received this name. They first became known in Europe after a zoo introduced them as "food animals" for the big cats. Today, Dahomey cattle are popular primarily as a hobbyist breed and landscape maintainer. Animal lovers were looking for a larger herd for the three Dahomey cattle, Nera, Paloma and Primo, as they felt that the previous housing was not enough for the three. They were looking for a place where they could feel comfortable. The animal friends turned to Gut Aiderbichl in search of help. At this time we received another request from Dahomey cattle and so we wanted to bring a "family" together. Arriving at Gut Aiderbichl, however, the three were very fearful at first: but with a lot of love and patience they now found their happiness. They had told us loudly that they needed more companions of their own kind, no matter what race they were. So we dared to integrate them into our herd of cattle, where they have now arrived completely and are doing well.
