Dog Bacardi

With heavy hearts we are looking for a home for Bacardi where he can spend his old age. Bacardi came to us five years ago from the Hallein animal shelter. Unfortunately, Bacardi developed a leash aggression in his past. While Bacardi "communicates" with other dogs when he is free, he is aggressive towards his fellow dogs when he is on a leash. With his 24 kg, he then puts his back into it! In his hometown he had to be muzzled and kept on a leash because of various "nipping" incidents. He does not like unexpected disturbances, e.g. from small children. Basically he has nothing against people and children as long as he can decide when he goes to whom. Our motto "ignore Bacardi and let him come to you" works very well. Every visitor is greeted with loud barking, which scares many away, every ring at the door is an invitation to defend his home. Bacardi is very sensitive to noise, he is also frightened by cyclists going too fast who suddenly appear out of nowhere. Bacardi gives out a lot of affection. The love you give him comes back 100%. Bacardi loves long walks. He is a faithful and reliable companion in the mountains. He is happiest off leash; his recall is perfect. We have invested many hours of training which have paid off. He can be left alone during the day, provided he gets enough exercise to compensate. Bacardi is not a city dog. His ideal home is an understanding active family with dog experience on the outskirts of town or in the country.
