Nora
she came back like a boomerang
From the perspective of Gut Aiderbichl
(written by Gisela Pschenitschnig)
In 2018, Nora, a tiger pony, came to a young owner who fell head over heels in love with her. Such a thing happens - many friendships between a person and an animal are decided in a matter of seconds. The pony cost an enormous sum, but the young woman eventually became the new owner of the pretty Nora.
Nora's breed is of Celtic descent and has been created through various crosses. The breed has a lighter rump than the Shetland Pony and is athletically inclined. Nora has a pretty pony head with small ears and a thick mop of hair.
The young woman wanted Nora as a side horse for her second horse, Luna, and both were to spend the summer months on the pasture. Unfortunately, laminitis was diagnosed. Laminitis is one of the most painful orthopedic diseases of the horse, and its development has several causes. The cost of treating Nora's severe laminitis was beyond the financial scope and Nora was sold - so it was thought - to a good final place. Thus, began the peculiar path of Nora ...
The tortuous path of the horse trade should take its course
Nora came to a pony ranch and nothing spoke against her not being well there. It was also assured that she could stay as long as she lived. Again and again, contact was made with the new owners and they assured that Nora was doing well.
The pandemic apparently turned things around for the ponies and all the other animals on this ranch. The animals were sold on again and neither the place nor other contacts about the new stable, where Nora had come, were revealed. Nora had been sold under a different name, which made the search more difficult.
The young woman started an appeal on Facebook. The oil in the ignited fire around Nora almost brought an escalation. Overnight it "burned" and many people thought they knew how Nora was doing and where she was staying at that time.
A woman who supposedly knew Nora came forward and wanted to forward the Facebook post to the current owner. So light came quickly into the jungle around Nora. The woman sent photos to make sure it was Nora. She had also been sold to her as a healthy horse - not a word had been said about the sick hooves during the sale. The bad diagnosis had been concealed and a horrendous price had been demanded for the tiger pony. The price was so high that Nora's new owner paid it off in installments, just so that Nora could stay in her new home.
Nora was "given back" to the young woman
The contact of the young woman and the last owner remained and at some point Nora was handed over as a "gift".
After all this crazy hustle and bustle around Nora, Dieter Ehrengruber wanted to help putting an end to her suffering. "Nora should come to Egg in Switzerland, where we have the specialists for our horses. Let's hope that they can take away her pain and that the pony will be able to walk well again!".
Never stop giving animals a voice
is the motto that I unconditionally accepted from Michael Aufhauser. It is our task to take care of the animals' stories and pass them on to people, especially when they are so unbelievably painful and unfair to the animal, like the story of the tiger pony Nora.
Simply food for your thoughts, your Gisela.
The idea of profit and dishonesty must stop with the living being:
Only when the last tree is cleared, the last river poisoned, the last fish caught, you will realize that money cannot be eaten.
