70 pigeons on the way to paradise
a huge dovecote
Architects build houses for people, Gut Aiderbichl builds houses for animals. In this case, it is about a huge pigeon house that was built at Gut Aiderbichl Eslarn.
People love cats, dogs, rabbits, chickens, horses, pigs...and there are people who find their great love in pigeons. At the beginning of the year, an email reached us describing the desperate situation of a lady. She has been caring for 70 different kinds of pigeons for more than 9 years, and so she takes care of injured pigeons, city pigeons, carrier pigeons, wedding pigeons and ornamental pigeons.
My pigeons are in good condition, but I myself am only in survival mode...These animals mean my life
Over the years, the animals have been cared for with love and total commitment, including medical care, and everything has been financed privately. The free time is dedicated to the animals of the heart.
The flock of pigeons lives in a specially equipped, paradisiacal pigeon house.
Every pigeon has a name, every animal is stroked and noticed every day and there are a few kind words for every single pigeon. For the "mother of the pigeons" it is completely impossible to abandon the animals or to give them away in different final homes.
The owner has had a sick cervical spine for years and there is no sign of improvement, rather a deterioration, because she has to bend or stretch to the pigeons. Every movement means pain and there are days when she can hardly move. Of course, it has also become more difficult to earn money. Money, however, that she needs for keeping the pigeons and for her own living.
The new pigeon house at Gut Aiderbichl Eslarn is now home to the 70 pigeons
The new pigeon house at Gut Aiderbichl Eslarn is now home to 70 pigeons.
The pigeon house in Eslarn is only a few months old, but is visibly becoming more and more occupied. About 1,000 pigeons will be able to move into the 25-metre-long and 14-metre-wide bird house. In one part of the house the animals can retreat, in a huge aviary there is generous space for flying. A bathing pool suitable for pigeons has also been thought of. Like all other birds, pigeons love to splash around in the water, opening their wings wide and dipping their heads under the water. There is almost nothing like a bath, even if it is only a puddle.
Like in a pigeon opera, it sounds "Ku-ru-ku-ku-ku" all day long. The 70 pigeons are comfortable and also enjoy refreshing themselves in the pigeon bath, they build nests and are obviously happy. They live in pairs and a contented melody coos through the bird house at Gut Aiderbichl Eslarn.
