Eloy and Toxy
Two cats in luck
Both cats are foundlings and were brought to an animal hospital by their rescuers. After neither Eloy nor Toxy could be found, the call for help reached Gut Aiderbichl, where they have now found a cat-friendly forever home in the outdoor courtyard of Maria Schmolln.
Struggle for survival
The one-year-old, black male cat Eloy was discovered in a barn. Very thin, very snuffy and weak, he was brought to the veterinary hospital. The health check revealed the diagnosis of leukosis, feline leukaemia. This is probably the reason for the young cat's cold and lack of appetite.
In Maria Schmolln, Eloy recovered wonderfully and gained a lot of weight. The young charmer loves to cuddle with the animal keepers, seeks warmth and caressing, protective hands.
The foundling has now found a big family with all the cats in Maria Schmolln and enjoys his young cat life more and more every day. Eloy finds everything here: love, care, food and lots of other cats to play with.
Quarantine for Toxy
Twelve-year-old Toxy is a grey-brown mackerel and was found on the side of the road. The health check on Toxy revealed that she is suffering from toxoplasmosis. This is also an infectious disease, against which the cat can build up an immune defence in the course of its life.
Our Toxy is currently still living in the quarantine room in Maria Schmolln.
Since she has been in loving care, Toxy's coat is becoming beautiful. It is shiny and silky and she is the absolute world champion in purring.
The disease has probably affected her central nervous system. Toxy does not move in a straight line, but turns circles when she moves forward. Presumably, this "turning in circles" will remain with her. But one thing is clear: Toxy shows a zest for life and trusts her carers. She is simply happy to be alive. We hope that the next test will be negative and that she will be able to join her fellow cats.
Every life is worth living
Eloy and Toxy brought health problems, but once again it turns out that there is a solution for everything. Both will manage to live a good life and both thank the people who help them with their familiar behavior.
The life of all living beings, be they human, animal or other, is precious and all have the same right to be happy.
Everything that inhabits our planets, the birds and the wild animals are our companions. They are part of our world, we share it with them.
