Cat Arion
comes from Switzerland
A few months ago, we received a call for help from a lady from Switzerland, whose tomcat Arion is chronically ill with cat cold.
Arion is one and a half years old, fit and agile, but unfortunately he coughs several times a day and has a runny nose.
Out of concern for the neighbor cats, Arion cannot be a free runner and the lady is also worried that he will kill her second cat Linius with the cold. So a new forever-home has to be found for him.
When the cat coughs and nose runs
When the cat coughs and sneezes, it is wise to take it to the vet right away, so as not to lose time and take appropriate countermeasures against cat cold.
The causes are a variety of pathogens, bacteria and viruses. For example, if a human has contact with an infected cat, the pathogens can also be transferred from clothing to your own cat at home.
After two to five days, the first symptoms appear. The cat sneezes, gets a cold and watery, mucous discharge from the nose and eyes. Sometimes fever and muscle pain also occur.
Vaccination against cat cold already protects kittens from this disease. Early treatment of the disease also allows it to subside completely. This is observed especially in adult cats and cats without health problems.
Arion made the journey to Austria and lives in the cat house of Traisen
Arion has settled in well in Traisen and brings great joy to the keepers because he is such a fun and active cat.
One of his favorite places is the sink in the cat's bathroom. Monika, the Traisen estate manager, was just about to clean the bathroom when a reproachful Arion told her that he wanted to cuddle in the sink and didn't feel like lying down anywhere else. He mischievously looked at her with his beautiful cat eyes and mewed contentedly to himself.
Arion is also a passionate hunter-gatherer and every now and then brings a feather from the garden, but then he does not put it down, he wants to show it to everyone.
His best friend is cat Michl with the amputated tail. Michl is a few months older than Arion. He was dropped off at an animal hospital to be euthanized. Due to the injured, torn tail, which was infested with maggots, the owner wanted to have Michl euthanized. The doctor and his team wanted to give the cat a chance, and Michl was nursed back to health for the most part. However, he cannot urinate by himself, so he has to be massaged to empty his bladder.
In Traisen, Arion and his friend Michl are in the best hands. Arion coughs especially in the morning and has sneezing fits now and then. With Arion's chronic illness, even more attention is paid to regular medical examinations.
Arion and Michl lead a harmonious life together and the staff of the Gut Aiderbichl pay attention on their health and well-being.
