For International Women's Day
From the perspective of Gut Aiderbichl
(written by Gisela Pschenitschnig)
If women were allowed to wish for something, it would perhaps be that it wouldn't be the need to establish an International Women's Day. Why does equality have to be worked on and it's not a matter of course? Why is there a need for an annual reminder of what women do in society and for society? A specific date will not change the situation. We can talk about it today, but it will continue tomorrow as it was yesterday.
Olympe, Fiona, Peppa and the Mariandls...strong women at Gut Aiderbichl
Our Olympe, a beauty of a donkey, is now 15 years old. She and her daughter Mona were rescued from being killed by animal-loving people. Olympe's hooves had not been cared for for years and grew up like an arch. In her belly she carried her foal Pauli. Her own weight and that of the unborn donkey pressed on the neglected hooves - what indescribable pain must she have endured for months?
Fiona, a former broodmare, stood with her Noriker colt Henry at the foal market. Her foal was not beautiful enough for breeding. So now both were waiting to be slaughtered. Michael Aufhauser bought Fiona and her Henry. Fiona's belly became suspiciously round and it was confirmed that she was pregnant. On a Good Friday, 8 years ago, a beautiful foal was born. Mariella is one of our princesses and keeps everyone on their toes.
Peppa, a pot-bellied Duroc mix pig, was rescued from the slaughterhouse with her four piglets. Her little ones looked at the Aiderbichl animal rescuers with uncertain eyes until they felt that we wanted their best.
Mariandl and her foal Katharina were separated at the horse market. Katharina was in danger of dying without her mother. Michael Aufhauser searched for the mare and it remains unforgotten to many people: the foal and its mother felt, despite the distance, that something wonderful was happening: the reunion of Mariandl and Katharina remains unforgotten to many Aiderbichl people.
The female nature is strong and cannot be ignored
What would the earth be without female genes, without female dexterity and cleverness, without female diplomacy and suffering?
Whether human or animal - women and female animals determine and maintain systems through their strength. If necessary, female forces can make the impossible possible and situations that seemed hopeless are steered into a functioning path through female intuition and diplomacy.
Whether human or animal - respect is due worldwide to those who are always there when nothing else works.
No offence, gentlemen.
