Paulinchen the donkey
and pony Moritz
Peace and harmony
From the perspective of Gut Aiderbichl
(written by Gisela Pschenitschnig)
Paulinchen lost her pony friend Mimma two months ago.
For many years, Mimma and her Paulinchen walked around the Begegnungshof in Henndorf. They were inseparable and went through thick and thin.
Unfortunately, our Mimi, as the little pony was affectionately called, passed away. Paulinchen was shocked at first. But, as life goes ...
Paulinchen has always been delicate
At the age of 20, Paulinchen could already tell a few cheerful but also sad stories.
She herself came to live with an animal-loving lady a few years ago. Even then, Paulinchen was no longer so fit. She could hardly walk or stand because she had terrible problems with laminitis. Paulinchen was thoroughly examined by a vet and Cushing's disease was diagnosed.
The animal welfare activist wanted to offer Paulinchen and her friend Fridolin lifelong protection, but unfortunately the riding stable had to be closed for financial reasons. Some of the animals, including our Paulinchen and Fridolin, came to Gut Aideribichl in Henndorf. The separation for humans and animals was heartbreakingly sad, but there was no other way out.
Paulinchen seemed to be a rather quiet, introverted donkey, while Fridolin kept showing what he could do. She wanted a friendship that radiated more calm than dear Fridolin. So it was that at some point Paulinchen chose Mimi. A little pony, although donkeys and ponies are not really the best of friends by nature.
Paulinchen and her Mimi
Paulinchen and Mimi spent many years together in a spacious, bright area of the donkey house in Henndorf. Paulinchen seemed content and happy to have found a friend for life.
Most of the time, the two of them stood on the wooden wall of the large hall, at the entrance to the donkey house or in the inner courtyard in the sun. When stress-ridden people were looking for peace and quiet, you could see that they liked to stand with Mimi and Paulinchen. It was always full of harmony and warmth, contentment and happiness.
At some point, Paulinchen and Mimi walked slowly, sometimes with a bit of a limp, back to the donkey house and let the day come to an end.
Will pony Moritz become Paulin's new boyfriend?
The ponies Moritz and Biene (Moritz's mother, deceased in 2018) had to be given away a few years ago. The grandchildren, to whom the ponies by the grandparents had been given to them by their grandparents, were grown up and the ponies remained with the grandparentswho unfortunately had to give them away.
Moritz is a very quiet pony and immediately caught Paulinchen's eye. Some time after Mimis death, Paulinchen could now be seen standing at Moritz's left side, just as she used to do with Mimi. Always in compliance with oneit smallelegant distanceit from each other. A deep, harmonious friendship?
