Peter Günther

From the perspective of Gut Aiderbichl

The chance belongs to living on - Peter Günther loves his freedom without breeding and nose ring

More than 1000 cattle on the farms of Gut Aiderbichl have had a new member for a few weeks: Peter Günther, 5 years old, an adorable brown cattle breeding bull. A bull with a chocolate-brown, soft coat, bewitching eyes and a look that makes you melt away.

If the performance is no longer achieved...

Peterle, as I always call him, should have gone to the slaughterhouse. The breeding results were no longer satisfactory.
From the first moment he arrived at Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf, he was calm, composed and content with his new living situation.
For the first few days, he stood on the paddock with his stately weight like a breath in the sun and showed great interest in the people who stood admiringly by him at the fence. Until a few days ago, he had a stainless steel ring in his nose. "Why is there a ring in his nose?" asked the children and also many adult visitors.

The nose is a sensitive area

When we pick up cattle with rings in their noses, I always wish we could remove it as soon as possible. Our animals are castrated, so the "wildness" should be over.
In bulls, stainless steel or even brass rings are inserted into the nasal septum to "tame" the animals. The ring is turned or pulled to make the bull stand still, for example.

The cattle's fuzz mouth and the human fingerprint

Flot mouth is the name given to the moist, shiny bridge of the nose between the nostrils. This area is used to identify the animal, similar to taking a fingerprint from a human. Take a closer look: the flot mouth has a similar structure to the human fingertip.

Peter Günther and the goats

Peterle's favourite animals are goats. Right after a few days on the farm, we could observe that these intelligent, nimble animals were particularly interesting to him. He spent some time with them in a large stable.

Now Stephan, our brand bull, and Peter have also become friends and inhabit a cattle shed together. Stephan's body hair has still not completely grown back, and so he only comes outdoors in the late afternoon or morning. Peter joins his friend - the important thing is that the two can be together.

An appeal to the people

Does it really take politics to make people rethink? Do we need more environmental disasters and suffering animals in mass farming to start a healthy path for the earth?

Man shifts the "blame" back and forth: some say methane is created with every burp and fart of cattle, others think industry as a whole and cars are "to blame" for environmental disasters.

Peter Günther could no longer perform, so he had to leave and was allowed to get a home with us. How happy he is here with his new friend and how people listen when you tell them about breeding and the effects on animals, humans and the environment, for example.

We will not be able to make up in eternity what we have done to the animals. (Mark Twain) - Let's start to rethink consistently.

Sincerely, your Gisela

Brown Swiss Cattle

Peter Günther was used as a breeding bull. Many calf kids were born through him and his farmer was also happy for a long time that Peter Günther performed such great "services". During a routine check-up, however, it turned out that...
