Maria Schmolln is a cat paradise where many cats, some dogs and chickens from a wide variety of living situations have been given a new forever home. The cat house has plenty of spacious, cozy rooms for the velvet paws. Especially in the cold season, cats like to snuggle up in their beds or on the sofa. There are plenty of these too, so that all animals can feel comfortable in the house.
In the summer months, however, the situation is different. The cats sleep on the wooden bench in front of the house, they lie down under shady bushes and trees. It's just like paradise.
"When we help animals, we also help people!"
From the very beginning, Gut Aiderbichl saw it as its duty to help animals in need and give them a home - until the natural end of their lives. They should not suffer distress or fear, but should feel comfortable and cared for.
Some cats that are relinquished often grieve. Whether human or animal - grief has many triggers. The death of the owner, a change of owner due to a move, etc. mean feelings of loss and uncertainty for the animals. The cat's mental well-being and emotional state change. The cat tries to process the loss of conspecifics or a loved one with its own kind of grief. In the first phase, the animal searches for the missing animal or human companion. They do not want to admit that they are now alone. As a result, the cat may show disinterest, lack drive, not eat enough, be nervous and destroy things around them. Gradually, the cat accepts the changed living situation and establishes new social contacts with humans and animals.
Salem - a stray cat
Salem ran into a plumber, but unfortunately he couldn't keep him. So he asked the staff at Maria Schmolln if he could leave Salem here. Salem is not chipped, so unfortunately the owner could not be traced.
Why should you have your cat chipped? Responsible owners do everything in their power to find their cat. There is a modern way to find your cat without the hassle of a collar with your home address on it. A tiny, implanted chip in combination with registration in a database ensures that a "lost" animal can be returned to its owner. Animal shelters, veterinary practices and even the police have readers. This reader can be used to retrieve the information from the chip and the owner can be contacted to collect the animal.
The question is whether Salem has lost his way or whether he has been abandoned. We will never know.
We are looking for a loving home for Salem
Salem has a black coat, he is estimated to be seven years old, he has injured his left ear and his left eye is slightly smaller.
Salem is "addicted" - to being close to people. He just wants to cuddle and be stroked all day long and purrs with pleasure when his humans "kiss" him.
Our cuddly bear Salem is to be rehomed. Salem generally gets on well with other cats. Nevertheless, we think that a place where he can be kept as an only cat would be best for his well-being and happiness. Salem purrs for attention and love - would you like to give him a home?
We wish Salem a cuddly place with loving people, and we hope that we can introduce him to his new family soon.
