Sheep Sven
We get most of the young lambs every year before the Easter holidays. The young lambs are born and sometimes rejected by the mama sheep because she has too many young and too little milk, because the sheep are too weak or even disabled. They remain lying and get no milk. Actually they should die, but many of the farmers who call us then want to help them of course. In August this year another baby sheep would need help.
Sven - he is black as night and soft as a ball of wool
Two animal-loving hikers found little Sven all alone in a meadow, trapped in a fence. Far and wide there was no mother sheep to be seen. The sheep, only a few hours old, must have somehow rolled down the slope and was then stopped at a fence. Sven was carefully freed and the two ladies searched for the flock of sheep. The flock did not accept the young-born and the mother could not be found.
They tracked down the farmer and he gave them permission to take the sheep. The rescuers took Sven to their hotel room and contacted Gut Aiderbichl.
On a mercy farm it is a coming and going
A few weeks ago, all the animal keepers were deeply saddened because the little sheep Lia died. Now another newborn sheep was looking for saving hands.
Dying and new life belong together - unfortunately, people are often still too deep in grief when a new animal in need of help is taken in. Maybe it was black Sven's job to make the animal keepers smile again after Lia's death?
A young animal life needs help every hour
The animal keepers and also employees from the administration of Gut Aiderbichl took Sven home with them after work. He had to get his bottle every hour. No one minded that he soiled the flat sometimes - we wanted to get him through. Sven thanked his humans for their efforts with a soft, happy bleat.
Things are looking up for Sven - he is always hungry
Mother's milk is always the most important for the immune system in humans and animals. Sven sucks on our trousers and jackets - he always likes something to eat.
Afterwards, of course, he is tired and hides his head under the jacket. He likes to cuddle and loves to be stroked all day long.
In his stable, Sven snuggles on a thick straw bed and as soon as you call him, he lifts his little head and makes a loud noise.
Tentative run on the farm at Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf
When all the donkeys, ponies, pigs and goats are in the stable at feeding time, the stable door opens for our little Sven. He loves to walk around the farm with his animal keepers and even looks curiously at the camels.
For whatever reason Sven, who is only a few hours old, was hanging in the fence - he had two great rescuers and we are now confident that Sven will grow up to be a happy, fun-loving sheep. In a few days he will join Peterle, Larry and Ben in the group and then he will also have found a family.
