The Aiderbichler
Rodent - Living room

Amigo is now an Aiderbichler

And again the chinchilla family at the Begegnungshof in Henndorf has grown by one member. Amigo, a nine-year-old chinchilla buck, was "left over" after the death of his partner, and was able to find a new forever home in Henndorf in Henndorf.

Chinchillas, degus, colored mice, rats...

Sometimes chinchillas, degus, colored mice or rats have to leave their home because the owners have allergies, because they are not allowed to keep animals in the new rented apartment, or because people are separating and cannot take the animals with them.

Anna's love for rodents is indescribable. Requests to take in "rodents in need" keep coming in. The rodents' living quarters are lovingly furnished with hiding places, small ladders and a sand bath.
Everything is taken care of in the new forever home: the right food, all the things needed for grooming, regular veterinary checks, etc. The animals should want for nothing. The animals will want for nothing.

Of course, one thing should not be missing: Love and attention. Amigo is a particularly beautiful chinchilla with a wonderfully soft coat, big ears and dark saucer eyes.
Amigo has been kept separately since he was castrated. We are still working on socializing him with the other chinchillas. Good things take time.

When Anna comes into the rodent living room, all the little and big beady eyes look out of the aviaries in her direction. There is a lot of "talking", cleaning and food distribution. Each individual animal is addressed by name, sometimes taken out and held in her hands and stroked.
Amigo appreciates Anna's gentle hands just as much as all his other rodent friends. She knows how to read the animals' every wish from their eyes and, if possible, fulfill them.

"Unfortunately, we can't give them back their homeland ..."

Anna is always happy to explain about the chinchillas about the chinchillas. So are they are rodents that inhabit the rocky mountain regions in the high mountains of South America. Unfortunately, many chinchilla species endangered in the wild, and threatened with extinction.
However, these fluffy rodents are very popular as pets. Chinchillas can be kept as pets for around 10 to 15 years as pets. In the wild, however age is unpredictable, before they reach their maximum life expectancy, as they are either predators or diseases fall victim to can.
In the wild chinchilla herds consist of several hanimals. Thanks to a distinctive spoken language, the South American rodents can communicate with each other. The chinchilla spoken language includes squeaking, squeaking and whistling. whistling.

Bred chinchillas for the fur industry

For coats and jackets made of fur millions of chinchillas are cruelly mistreated and killed. The animals vegetate in cages until they are electrocuted or have their necks broken and are then skinned.
As chinchillas are kept indoors, they never see sunlight. Chinchillas also often suffer from gastrointestinal diseases, as the food on fur farms does not meet the high demands of these sensitive animals. Chinchillas are also very susceptible to stress. As a result, many animals bite out their fur, causing large and painful wounds which, if left untreated, can lead to further infections and mean death for many animals.

Treat your pet in such a way that you can cope with reversed roles in the next life without any problems.
