Ivanhoe and Flecki
the search for a safe home has been successful
From the perspective of Gut Aiderbichl
(written by Gisela Pschenitschnig)
Ivanhoe and his best friend Flecki have been living at our Gut Aiderbichl farm in Iffeldorf for a few months now.
The two oxen are preceded by a story that makes the hope come true that there are people with a big heart for animals, and that no difficult situations prevent these people from bringing animals into a good life situation or saving their lives from the slaughterhouse.
The story of "Ivy"
About four years ago, Ivy's rescuer made a wonderful discovery. Isabelle the cow had calved shortly before the discovery and was busy licking her calf. Isabelle was full of love and devotion for her little "knight Ivanhoe".
After some back and forth, the animal-loving woman was able to convince her husband to buy the little bull calf so that he would not have to go the usual route in the animal industry: being fattened up and slaughtered.
Ivanhoe was taken in on an organic farm where mother-child husbandry was quite normal. Here he spent a wonderful year and a half, and met Flecki, a steer who had come to the organic farm as a 10-day-old calf. Fate was similar, Ivy and Flecki became inseparable friends.
Their time at the organic farm had "run out" and the animal-loving people found a new farm for Ivy and Flecki. The two oxen received regular visits from their humans and were trusting. The two peaceful oxen settled in well with the herd of cattle.
Ivanhoe and Flecki had to move again and ended up with a farmer who didn't have a stable for his animals. He also seemed unable to cope with the large, high-spirited oxen. Somehow, luck seemed to have run out for the two oxen.
But: Ivy and Flecki finally got the chance for a safe and happy life
The formula of love and tenacity of the animal-loving people was to work. It seemed that Ivy and Flecki's lives were on a tightrope. They could not stay on the farms that should have been their safe home. The thought of both of them ending up on a slaughterhouse one day was a horror for the loving humans.
The request went to Gut Aiderbichl ....
A heart for animals and a happy ending
Once again it should be "... and whenever you think you can't go on..." - Gut Aiderbichl can promise to take in animals that need protection and a home.
Before the grazing season was over in the fall, Ivanhoe and Flecki were able to become Aiderbichlers and are now enjoying their lives to the full.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our sponsors and friends of Gut Aiderbichl, with whose help we are able to help animals and their people quickly and effectively.
Happiness often comes from paying attention to small things, unhappiness often comes from neglecting small things.
~WilhelmBusch, poet (1832-1908)
Ivanhoe and Flecki are grateful and happy to have found people for whom their continued existence was important and natural. They were lucky, the two big oxen.
Yours sincerely, Gisela.
