When love of animals brings problems

The story of Wilma and Woody

From the perspective of Gut Aiderbichl

(written by Gisela Pschenitschnig)

For many people, their best, most loyal friend, is a dog. A friend is there for us when we need him. The good relationship should be reciprocal.

Gut Aiderbichl employees visited an old friend in Romania who lived with over 30 dogs and cats. Gut Aiderbichl carried out the castration of her four-legged friends, and since then there has always been personal contact.

During one of the visits, they became aware of what appeared to be a motionless dog's body in the brush. It was Grandpa, an elderly mongrel dog. Grandpa was not dead after all, but had probably withdrawn with his pain. He had a tumor on his penis, which was surgically removed in a Romanian veterinary clinic through the initiative of Gut Aiderbichl. Grandpa is still alive and is now almost 16 years old. He lives at Gut Aiderbichl Maria Schmolln and does not care that he is blind in one eye. Grandpa loves the caregivers, his fellow animals and the good food.

During another visit to the old lady, the Aiderbichler staff discovered Wilma locked in a room. There was feces everywhere, because the old lady did not let the dog outdoors for fear that the other dogs would attack her. At that time Woody was also discovered, an adorable little brown mongrel (already placed!). Both dogs now live in the dog shelter of Gut Aiderbichl Romania, where they enjoy their life: there is enough to eat, they can go outside, the rooms are clean. Woody and Wilma make an all-around happy impression.

The misery of animals - how to stop it?

For example, when it comes to stray cats and dogs, m an knowanthat one can the misery in the animal world can only be counteracted by castration. can. This costs money, which in many neighboring countries the population not or too little available to the population.
Animal welfare is in many countries also not a noun, i.e. capitalized, but is written very small. Gut Aiderbichl has made it its business to keep the strays to castrate the strays, so the reproduction chain can be interrupted. The alternative many a pennilessr localsr is to kill the dogs in agony, abandon themabandon them or otherwise chase them away.

Dozens of Romanian street dogs have become happy dogs

They are the most grateful, warm dogs you can imagine. Animals feel who means well with them. From many shy, beaten, tortured dogs, standing day after day in front of the dog shelter in Romania and leashed, maybe laying themselves in front of the gate and waiting, or even thrown over the fence, became well socialized, loving companions. Unbelievable really - again, animals are the great ones at forgiving.

The Gut Aiderbichl animal shelter in Romania is another important project in the spirit of love for animals. So far, over 300 dogs have been taken in at the Romanian shelter, and over 200 dogs have been successfully placed in special foster homes.
At Gut Aiderbichl's Romanian dog shelter, over 160 dogs are currently being cared for, nursed back to health, socialized and waiting for loving people.

We must never stop respecting life and treating it with reverence. There is much to do.

Sincerely, your Gisela

You would like to give Wilma a new home?

Here are a few key data:

Wilma came together with Woody (already placed!) to our shelter. The two have now also taken up quarters together with us and are one heart and soul.
Wilma is a friendly and gentle dog. For this wonderful dog lady we are looking for an active home, where the great bitch is also mentally challenged.
With us, Wilma has shown her friendly and loving side from the very first moment - we hope that she will soon be able to do the same in her new home.
