Alfred and Zafar
Foal rescue as a symbolic act (Part 1)
From the perspective of Gut Aiderbichl
(written by Gisela Pschenitschnig)
Pictures of horses and their young foals in the lush green meadow, foals playing together - these are situations that invite you to pause and forget all stress.
In part 1 of the foal story, I would like to introduce you to two horse personalities, Alfred and Zafar. We were able to buy Alfred and Zafar at the last minute, as they were already standing by the truck and would have been heading for an uncertain future. It would probably have been the end of the line for young foals who had only just begun to enjoy their young lives.
Alfred and Zafar did not have a number painted on their bodies
They should simply be taken away
The staff at Gut Aiderbichl bought Alfred and Zafar free - the path was to lead to a life full of love, freedom and safety. Nervous and with huge eyes full of fear and uncertainty, Alfred and Zafar were driven to Henndorf on the Aiderbichl horse transporter.
Both foals are very special characters - very sensitive and initially insecure, anxious and cautious. Today they are happy and look forward to a future without fears.
Alfred
...is to fall in love with. As already mentioned, he didn't have a number. He stood frightened by the truck before we asked we were asked if we wanted to buy him. What should have happened to Alfred? The owner didn't give us a clear answer.
Haflingers are said to be stubborn. If Alfred doesn't like something, such as standing in the treatment stall, he stomps his front hooves into the ground defiantly - and really stubbornly.
Alfred also enjoys having his humanAlfred also enjoys testing his human horse girls: how far can I go, what is still accepted and what is no longer accepted? Alfred is acting a bit like a pubescent teenager at the moment, but this phase will pass. He knows that he is the Haflinger in the group.
The group of three in which he now lives includes Nuria and Pia. Nuria and Alfred are one heart and one soul, which doesn't bother Pia. The three of them belong together, and when you watch them, you are overwhelmed with warmth, love and gratitude that they are able to spend their lives together on Gut Aiderbichl together. What would have happened if we hadn't gone to the foal market?
Zafar
...is the little wild one. He loves to play and keeps the whole group on their toes in the square. Zafar is the epitome of joie de vivre, he also likes to be cheeky and is put in his place by his fellow dogs.put in his place.
Zafar may be wild, but he is also intelligent. He learns the foal ABCs without any problems and is a step ahead of everyone else in his development. This is how he became the leader of his group. Zafar is in charge, he is strong-willed and when he wants to and when he wants to play, he uses his powers of persuasion to get his friends Mella and Herzog to join in.
Until you have loved an animal, a part of your soul remains unawakened.
