Azul, Sagi and Maxi
Three living symbols of power, love, passion and beauty
Peacocks have been considered a symbol of dominion, power, strength, wealth, love, passion, immortality and beauty for thousands of years. In the early Christian church, the peacock was considered a bird of paradise and a symbol of heaven, bliss and happiness.
The two peacocks Azul and Sagi waited some time until they could be taken in at Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf. Due to the bird flu, all the chickens, geese and our own peacocks had been put up. So Azul and Sagi had to wait, but right at the beginning of May the peacocks could come.
Azul and Sagi lived in complete freedom on a farm of nice people. Unfortunately, they could not stay there anymore - peacocks have a "loud" language, which some neighbors do not tolerate.
Two days after Azul and Sagi came Maxi, who was about four years old and whose partner had died.
Peacocks are wonderful birds
The plumage of the peacocks can have different colors. There is the white peacock, the bronze peacock, the black-winged peacock, the midnight peacock, the oat peacock, the opal peacock or the blue pied peacock, like Azul, Sagi and Maxi.
Peacocks belong to the family of chicken birds and the family of pheasants. The original home of the peacock is India and Sri Lanka. There they live in the jungle, move around the fields and watering holes during the day and feed on snakes, for example.
Peacocks can fly about five meters - that's not far, not high, but still, they fly. The long feathers of the males are called train and are between 1 to 1.5 meters long. If the peacock wants to impress the hen, it does so with the long upper tail feathers. These are then set up fan-like in a wheel to attract the female.
The peacocks' special "eye" iridesces in the colors of the rainbow. The iridescence of the peacock's eye is interpreted by some animals as the eyes of very large mammals, and thus the peacock can put a possible enemy to flight. The loud, rhythmic vibrating of the muscles when the peacock hits the wheel makes the feather ornament tremble, and this in turn is perceived as rustling.
Peacocks are proud and a scream piercingly loud
When you watch the peacocks, you notice their inner calm, their eyes have an overview of everything around them, their necks stretch long and strong in the air, and somehow they give the impression that nothing can upset them.
The cry or the whistle of the peacocks goes through marrow and leg. Some peacocks scream even when all around all people are sleeping. It screams even louder than the rooster, and this is then also decisive for peacocks to leave their usual environment and their usual people.
The new peacocks - gang
Azul, Sagi and Maxi in Henndorf
Ferrari and Paun, who have both lived at Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf for many years, give the new gang every chance to settle in well here. Azul and Sagi were always used to the free life and Maxi learns quickly.
We wish the stately beauties with the iridescent blue feathers many more long, healthy years in their new forever home at Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf.
