Dwarf goat Siegi

in search of a herd

A few months ago, an email reached Gut Aiderbichl and made us sit up and take notice. A dwarf goat run away from the owner and lived for months outside the stable in freedom. It was seen again and again, but obviously did not want to have much to do with people. A very attentive, animal-loving lady suspected who the black goat belonged to and contacted the presumed owner. According to the information of the animal owner, the goat had already escaped at least half a year ago. The police and the hunter were informed about the runaway dwarf goat. Under any circumstances Siegi could be caught. On the contrary, it was said that if people got within 50 meters of him, he would run away, never to be seen again.

Siegi always showed himself to his rescuer in the same place

Actually, he was not far from his home stable, but he was always faster than any person who wanted to bring him back there.
The animal-loving lady could assume that he would find enough food in the wild. What she didn't like was the thought that Siegi was without a herd and without a real shelter. A "quiet communication" between the lady and the little Siegi took place, and the story has still to develop.

"All I want is for this goat to be helped, and for it to have a herd again..."

Every day the lady fed little Siegi, and every day she hoped that she could establish a connection with him. Siegi showed himself very shy of people and did not want to be a tame dwarf goat. He seemed to enjoy the interesting acquaintance with people a little bit, but only at a distance. Siegi and the lady often stood opposite each other at a small stream - there he felt safe, and then he also stopped. But he did not tolerate closeness - he was gone like the wind, if you came too close to him.
No animal welfare organization, no rescue farm and also no breeder complied with the request to catch little Siegi so that he could be placed in a herd.

Gut Aiderbichl is good at catching escaped animals

Escaped cattle like the famous cow Yvonne or Büxi also evaded humans, at least as long as they could. The main danger is that animals will be released for shooting, if you don't get them back into the barn. Siegi was taken in by Michael Meckl, administrator of Gut Aiderbichl Eslarn and a veterinarian, who was consulted, to his new home at Gut Aiderbichl Deggendorf. He was anesthetized, otherwise he would still be living in the wild. Maybe he would have liked life there? Or did Siegi just didn't want to go back to his home stable? How is he today?

Siegi enjoys herd life in Deggendorf

Siegi is curious, cheerful and very communicative with his fellow goats in Deggendorf. The goats Tonga, Vincent, Miri, Resi, Maxi, Moritz, Karamellchen...all love Siegi. He is happy, has his herd, a species-appropriate stable and enough food. Siegi gets cuddles from the keepers - also a new development in the life of the runaway goat.

A big thank you to the tireless, animal-loving lady who did not give up on Siegi and tried to reintegrate him into a herd, and didn't let him become lonely.
