Aperio
A Haflinger inherited by the granddaughter
Aperio is an approx. 24 years old Haflinger Wallach and had a nice life with an older lady. Unfortunately, she passed away and left the horse to her granddaughter. The young lady had known Aperio for 15 years and loved him very much. She did everything she could to give Aperio a good life after her grandmother's death. However, as a young student, this did not turn out to be so easy...
Aperio found a place on a sanctuary, but the financing of the Haflinger became more and more of a problem
The hiring fee was around 300.00 euros per month, in addition to high veterinary costs. Aperio suffers from Cushing, has heart problems and some other ailments, but he should still be allowed to continue his life. But the cost of the young woman grew over her head: she had to pay off the student loan and finance the hiring fee, as well as the medicaments for Aperio. Due to Corona, the job she was pursuing while still studying also wobbled to be able to finance her life and her horse.
"...I feel like an inhuman being, because I have to "get rid" of him somehow, but I can't afford all the costs anymore. I wish he could live..."
Aperio is grateful
The journey must have been exhausting for Aperio, but he now lives at Köllersberger Hof, where no effort is spared to make it easier for Aperio to settle in. Edith, who looks after the Aiderbichl horses in their stables with much love and care, is one of the best horse mamas in the world. At the moment, Aperio is still living alone in the horse stall. He should be allowed to get used to his fellow horses and the new environment in peace and quiet.
Aperio slowly makes friends in the new stable at Gut Aiderbichl
It crystallises that Martina and Safir would like to become Aperio's new friends. Before they came to Gut Aiderbichl, their life had not been a pleasant one.
Martina came from a Romanian transporter that was crammed with horses that were to be taken to the slaughterhouse in Italy. She arrived at Köllersberger Hof with numerous psychological wounds, and time has healed her wounds.
Another friend is emerging. His name is Safir, a Haflinger too, and he is only 8 years old. Because of colic, the then 5-year-old Haflinger had been brought to an equine clinic. The condition improved quickly and soon Safir was well again, but the owner did not want the horse back. He was to be put to sleep. Determined, the doctors contacted Gut Aiderbichl and were lucky. The beautiful Safir has now been living at Köllersberger Hof for three years and feels very much at home.
Aperio, the new one, Martina and Safir...three different life stories with a common, happy outcome: they are allowed to live on at Gut Aiderbichl!
It is only thanks to your support that we can give horses, like Aperio, a loving home until the natural end of their lives. Please continue to support us with a small donation or a sponsorship. Thank you on behalf of our rescued animals.
