Roletta
every life is worth living
Roletta is a Limousin calf and was just one year old when the request came in for the dwarf cleft heifer. Roletta has been living at the Moosfeldhof, an outlying courtyard of Gut Aiderbichl in Germany, since mid-June. Despite all her handicaps - her short stature and cleft palate - Roletta seems to be full of life. It gives Christian Kögl, the manager of the Moosfeldhof, a lot of joy and makes him think: Every life is worth living.
The Limousin - Cattle
In 1886, the first herdbook of the Limousin-breed was established. Originally, this breed of cattle was bred for draft and fattening ability.
In Germany, there is the Limousin since 1975 and it is next to the Charolais-cattle, the most important breed of beef cattle. A cow reaches between 650 to 850 kg and a bull up to 1400 kg in weight.
The trademark of the Limousin is the red to wheat-colored coat with lightening around the eyes, on the flot mouth and on the feet.
The character of the Limousin-cattle is rather calm and balanced. When it comes to defending the calves against enemies, the good-natured cow gruff.
Roletta is a bundle of energy and loves goats
"I'm standing with Roletta right now. She's fine, she's always up for a joke. She's not afraid of strange noises, such as a tractor.
She is curious and wants to know everything that is going on around her. The curiosity is typical of this breed and Roletta also learns from her best friends, the goats at Moosfeldhof, how to be even more curious than curious.
Roletta herself is dwarfed and has a cleft palate. The farmer's wife, who has 120 other cattle in the barn, wanted to keep her alive and put a lot of effort into the calf and its cleft palate. As a calf, she was bottle-fed, because no negative pressure could be created due to this cleft, making drinking and sucking from the teat impossible.
Roletta gets rather soft food and she eats slowly, so that not too many feeding juices get into the respiratory system. It all looks a little difficult for humans, but calf Roletta makes the best of her situation.
She has a wonderfully soft coat and loves to be petted and cuddled!".
Saving one animal does not change the world. But the whole world changes for that animal
Roletta had a farmer's wife who found her life worth living despite the handicaps. This shows respect and love for Roletta as a fellow creature.
She enjoys her life to the fullest and plays a different kind of practical joke every day with her friends, the goats. She will let us know when her life will be too exhausting and no longer worth living for her.
