LOBO
The young charmer came by plane from Greece
Dieter Ehrengruber was asked if Lobo, a black and brown mongrel from Greece, would be accepted at Gut Aiderbichl. Lobo seemed to be a cheeky little fellow, and played many an adolescent trick on the older dogs.
Lobo, who was just under 5 months old, arrived by plane from Greece, was taken over by the Aiderbichling staff in Düsseldorf, and first came to the Aiderbichling animal shelter in Osnabrück. The charming and cheeky Lobo immediately made friends with the Romanian dog Gladys.
Young dog Lobo was probably a little naughty dax
At just under 5 months, respect for older dogs is probably still on the low end. You try out how far you can go before it growls. Older dogs are excited, jealous or even angry at a new, young dog. There are many reasons why an older dog may not want to interact with young dogs, from an inability to read social and physical signals correctly to unwanted intrusion into the adult dog's personal space. It all just takes learning.
Teacher dog and the naughty young dogs
How should man behave?
Older dogs will always try to teach the boy something. They are the "educators". Growling and strong eye contact may upset the human more than the young dog or the teacher dog. To us humans, their growling and whining may sound "dangerous", but these are the instinctive sounds of the learning process. This is all fine too, as long as there are no clear signs of aggression or risk of injury. It is probably best to observe the two parties, and especially to carefully evaluate the young dog's reactions. Young dogs already turn on their backs or whimper as a sign of submission when the older dog is being respected, sort of like "OK Mr. Teacher, I get it!".
The process of teaching and learning can take weeks, months or years - harmony needs its time, so that old dogs can age calmly with young dogs.
Our bright, young cheeky dax Lobo became a charming, calm dog. Let's see what the future has in store for Lobo's life.
No dog - and by the way no human being - is born with patience and self-discipline. Everything needs its time, and just: Patience.
When a dog only may when he is supposed to,
but never can when he wants to,
then he may also not when he must!
But if he may if he wants to,
then he may he also when he should,
and then he also when he must...
Because...Dogs who can shall
must want be allowed...!!!
