Donkey Jakob
At 32 years in search of a new home
A touching email reached the animal emergency center of Gut Aiderbichl:
(...) For 40 years donkeys were part of our lives ... Now Jakob is alone, and is looking for a new home together with equals of his kind (...) - A couple had for many years Elsa (deceased), Benje (deceased), Suleiken (Jakob's mother, unfortunately deceased) firmly integrated into their lives. The farm, which the people inhabited, will probably also have to be exchanged for a small accommodation.
Even getting on in years, the animal-loving people were looking for a home for their Jakob, so that he would be well cared for and have conspecifics. That's how Jakob the donkey came to Gut Aiderbichl in Deggendorf.
The love for donkeys is one of the most beautiful that a person can feel
Donkeys have had a strong relationship with humans for thousands of years and love their company. They are very social animals, curious about other creatures, and make contact of their own accord.
Because of its intelligence, a donkey can establish a very intense relationship with humans. He senses by facial expressions, gestures and physical condition., how the human being feels, and reacts accordingly.
Donkeys think a lot, consider and weigh situations always first, before they decide, to do something. This behavior is misinterpreted by humans as stubbornness. misinterpreted with stubbornness.
Donkeys tend to be calm, sensitive, playful, patient and quiet. They have a high threshold for irritation and a low potential for aggression. Sie do not know gratuitous violence. When a donkey lashes out, then enough warnings have been have been "sent".
Jacob now has many conspecifics
With some he "ogles" quite gladly
One he likes to "ogle" with could be Tabea. The beautiful brown and black donkey is 15 years old, and came to Gut Aiderbichl Deggendorf as a baby with her mother Maria, a Romanian working donkey, in 2008. Maria had been 38 years old when she gave birth to her foal. She knew that her foal needed her, but she had no more strength or will to live. She was tired and worn out from pulling the wooden water wheel. A cattle dealer bought them free - so they came to Deggendorf, and life became easier, work-free and happy.
How nice would it be if Jacob fell in love with pretty Tabea? What are the chances? We'll be watching this very closely and reporting on it.
Animals heal what people have hurt in you....
