A horse at a gallop
it's like playing catch with the wind
The long, cold and wet winter is over and the rainy season in April and May has begun.s.
As soon as the weather and the condition of the meadows allowed it, it was said "out to the wide pastures with the horses!".
The horses from the main stable lane with Bimbo and Princess,
Hilde, Fee and Franzi, Fiona and Mariella,
the Mariandls and many other horses from the farm feel the excitement
when the animal keepers come.
The sun is shining, blue sky and off we go to the pasture.
The situation is no different in the B stable.
Older horses live here.
What is nicer than spending your time as a horse on the pasture?
In the B-stable, the horses live in an open stable.
They can decide for themselves whether they stay on the terrace
or if they want to spend their time on the pasture.
Around the A-stall, the so-called old stable,
the fresh grass smells at least as good,
as on the other meadows.
Even old horses want to feel the sun on their backs,
roll in the grass and be happy.
So much joie de vivre,
such concentrated power of wonderful horses on the pasture,
where the horses can live out their species-typical behavior -
that gives goose bumps.
What to consider in the summer?
We get freshly cut grass from the outdoor yards so that the horses can slowly adapt to the fresh grass full of proteins and fructan. The horses' digestive systems have to get used to summertime feeding. In general, feeding in the summer is a science of its own, which our animal caretakers know all about.
When it is hot during the day, the horses come to the pasture in the evening and stay there overnight. This way they escape the annoying flies and horseflies. The pastures also have shelters for the horses, which can also be transported to another pasture if necessary - depending on where the horses need shelter at the moment.
Depending on the age and health condition, the animal keepers decide how long and how often a horse can be on the pasture.
Our animal caretakers know the health condition of their horses' hooves and digestive tract very well, and decide when, how long and also whether a horse is suitable for grazing.
Have a nice summer for all our horses from Gut Aiderbichl!
