Due to the death of the owner

life became a hullabaloo for 10 cats

One of the goals of Gut Aiderbichl is, among other things, to help animals that lose their owners through their demise, due to illness, financial hardship or other distressing events.

It is also necessary to help animals that live in circumstances with people who can not provide them with a species-appropriate housing, and thus the animals have to live in a neglected environment.

The owner had passed away, the housemates are mentally and physically unable to care for the large cat family

Gut Aiderbichl Osnabrück was contacted via the veterinary office. The cats were neglected and poorly cared for, the office reported. The co-inhabitants are now housed in a house for assisted living. For the welfare of the animals, it was decided ex officio to find a species-appropriate home for the cats. It was feared that the cats would have fared even worse in the new environment, in the surroundings of the assisted living, or that they would even be abandoned.

Everything was off track for man and animal - life in such dire circumstances is not to be expected of man, nor animal. The bad thing is that the cats suffered immoderately, but obviously had been living in the situation - tohuwabhohu - for a long time.

Keeping pets - what is neglect? - what is punishable?

Human tragedies can never be ruled out. Here it is important again to look and not to look away. In this case, the people and also the animals were helped - the suffering will also certainly become a good living situation for man and animal again.

When pets are neglected, the consequences are not only disastrous for the animal, but can also be dangerous for humans. What do authorities do to help animals out of their misery? Reports of abuses regarding private pet ownership come from the public, police, etc. If a case is reported, the office is obliged to investigate the case. The veterinary office starts with an inspection. Depending on the severity of the neglect, necessary measures are then initiated. It may not be about punishment, but about the welfare of the animal. In the present case of the 10 cats, there was no other solution than to find a new forever home for the animals.

How are Emma, Felix, Hugo, Kira, Lexia, Marie, Moritz, Nora, Susi and Tobi?

In Osnabrück, Anita and Klaus have furnished wonderful rooms for the 10 kittens: there are small carpets, little chairs, a huge cat tree, lots of comfortable cushions to lie and sleep on, clean feeding bowls filled with healthy food, etc.

After arrival, Emma, Felix, Hugo, Kira, Lexia, Marie, Moritz, Nora, Susi and Tobi were subjected to a veterinary health check. Very patiently and lovingly everything went over the stage.
The male cats were probably neutered and partly chipped. All 10 cats showed extremely shy behavior towards humans.

Slowly now Emma, Felix, Hugo, Kira, Lexia, Marie, Moritz, Nora, Susi and Tobi seem to feel that something is changing in their lives: there is peace, cleanliness, coziness, enough good food and loving people who patiently try to conquer the cats' hearts.

When the trust towards humans is given again, we will try to place the beautiful velvet paws to animal-loving people.

Animals are free beings. They freely offer us their love...their friendship...their help...their trust. We can learn a lot from them when we start to see all that they have ahead of us.
